Colin: Hey everyone. It's Colin here at etrailer. Today we have in here at 2019 Jeep Cherokee. We're test fitting the Yakima HighSpeed roof bike rack. This is going to be a fork mounted or through axle mount roof bike rack. It's going to allow you to get your bike loaded up on top of your roof so you can conserve space on your hitch.
You're not going to have to invest in a hitch mounted bike rack, or even try to cram it inside your vehicle. This is going to come set up so you can add on some locks. So it has a plastic pop lock right here. Basically, the reason that it does not come with locks is because they want you to be able to key it alike with your Yakima roof rack system, if you have locks for that. That way, you don't have to deal with two separate keys. We're also going to have a spot on the back where the cable lock comes from.
But again, it's just going to have this plastic lock right here. We're just replacing it with that same key system from Yakima. And then it's less keys to deal with. You would just wrap that around the frame of your bike, right about right here, and then lock it up.Now the bike itself is going to be secured at two different points. Right now we're using the fork mounted option.
Once I get the bike removed, I'll show you what you need to do to use the through actual option. We just have a clamp on our fork mounts right there, and then we're going to have a strap on our rear wheel, securing it onto the bike rack. With those two points, it's a very solid contact. It's going to be very solid for the trip. Now I'm going to go ahead and remove the bike. With these roof bike racks, you always want to start with the strap, because even though the strap is doing a good job of holding that back wheel, the bulk of the bike is being held in place by that front clamp.
Because I have a bit of a height restriction, I'm going to go ahead and climb up this door jam right here. Hold onto the bike. Just pull this clamp out. That way it's loose. You can get the forks up and out, and then unload our bike. Again, you do want to be careful stepping down. Now right here, I can show you how to use the through axle option. We have our skewer right here in this clamp. All we need to do is loosen it up. Then we can pull the skewer out. Now we can use the through axle option on this bike rack. When you want to use the clamp option, the fork mount, you just turn this knob until you hear those clicks. Now, we're going to have three different rubber coated steel strap securing our bike rack to our roof rack. You can see they come up and under our roof rack and come up top. I'm going to go ahead and climb up here so we can show you guys that. All three straps are going to operate the same. We have, again, some more plastic locks that we can replace with those lock cores to provide security for our roof rack. Our back cradle can slide back and forth to accommodate bikes of different wheel basis. With this clamp, it just comes under our crossbar just like that. That rubber coating on the steel strap is going to make sure it doesn't harm or scratch the finish of our crossbars. It goes into this slot right here. Then you just push the clamp on like that to tighten it up. If you need to loosen or tighten it up, you just spin this little gray knob right here, left or right, depending on what you need, and then lock it into place like so. It's going to be the same system for our front two straps as well.Well, thank you all for watching. That's going to do it for our test fit of the Yakima HighSpeed roof bike rack on our 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Here on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action. This simulates turning corners or evasively maneuvering. Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, parking garage, or driveway. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement.

You mentioned that you had to buy another fork adapter and I wanted to ask why kind of adapter that it was? Can you explain in more detail why the included adapter would not work for you?
