Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Kat's Heaters Ceramic Interior Heater with Fan

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Kat's Heater Ceramic Interior Heater with fan. This is going to keep the interior of your car, truck, boat, camper or RV. It can also work as a defroster. It plugs into a 12 volt power outlet. The power cord itself is going to measure around 5 feet long. The unit's going to feature state of the art circuit inaudible 00:00:22 so that's going to ensure a low current draw.

It's going to offer safe, reliable element that provides automatic temperature control for even heat. It's going to come with this swivel stand. It's going to allow for precise control of heat flow and it's going to come with some hook and loop fasteners that way you can keep the unit from shifting or moving during the travel, excuse me, moving during travel. For example, you could place fasteners on the bottom here and then on the dash and then you could stick this to the dash, that way it doesn't move or shift when you're going down the road or traveling. It's also got some holes right here so you could use some hardware to get this mounted as well for a more permanent installation. Hardware is not included. You can select the power between 150 watts and 300 watts.

Nice easy to use switch. Right here you're going to have fan, off and heat options. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. Measuring this direction the unit is going to measure about 7 inches. Measuring the overall height that's going to give us a measurement of about 6-1/2 to 6-5/8 of an inch tall.

Then measuring the thickness of just the fan area that's going to give us a measurement of about 3-3/4 of an inch. If we include the handle here at the back which allows us to easily tilt the unit, if we include that handle it increases the overall thickness to around 4-1/2 inches thick. The base on the unit, that's going to give us a length measurement of about 7-3/8 of an inch by 2-1/2 to 2-9/16 of an inch. The distance between those holes center on center that's going to give us a measurement of about 3-1/2 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the Kat's Heaters Ceramic Interior Heater with fan.

Fast shipping from e-trailer.
Wired
in a 30 amp socket with it's own fuse to plug this into. Figure engine off 12v --> at 300 watts = 25 amps. engine running 13.8v --> 22 amps.
Used the heater in a test today, 25°F. Tested two conditions. 1) engine off: virtually no heat in 150w setting some heat on 300w setting. 2) engine running: amount of heat one would expect at both settings. Apparently it is very sensitive to voltage. bought it to pre-heat the truck interior. Oh well.

Robert,Thank you for your review. This heater is designed to function plugged into a auxiliary power outlet. Alterations can create some variables that affect the heaters functions. Where the new 12 volt connection is placed and what size wire used could all be factors in the performance of the heater. Kat Heaters advised to plug the heater into the auxiliary power outlet and see how it performs.

The heater could have been fantastic, however after a couple days - run time 2.5 hrs each day - the heater stopped producing much heat. Not sure if it's a short or the heater coil but the unit became a noisy fan that didn't blow much air.
Disappointing.

by:

The problem I’ve had with the heater is that the power card plug that goes into the 12 volt source will not stay in place. So it’s pretty much been useless to me. I think that it need a much better power plug.

by:

Easy to install, should help to reduce moisture accumulation in cargo trailer.

so far the heater works great havnt had it really long enough to tell cold weather will tell all

Very disappointed. At the 300W setting I believe my breath is hotter than this so called heater. Don't waste your time.

I contacted the tech at Kats Heaters. They advise to make sure you are getting full power to your 12v connection.

  • Does Fan Blow When Kat's Heater part # KH37500 Is On Heat Mode
The fan blows when the Kat's Heater part # KH37500 is on heat mode. It's only when you take off heat and move it to "fan" does just the fan blow without the heating element making the air warm.

  • Kats Vehicle Interior Heater Recommendation for Inside of John Deere Tractor
If your John Deere tractor has an AC power outlet like what houses have then yes the Kat's Heaters Vehicle Interior Heater # KH37100 would work well. If instead you have 12 volt DC power on your tractor (most likely) we have the part # KH37500 which would work for that application.

  • Can The Kat's Ceramic Interior Heater Be Used In A UTV And Will It Drain The Battery
The Kat's Heaters Ceramic Interior Heater with Fan part # KH37500 will work in a utv as long as you can find a secure, stable mounting location. It will also not drain the battery if installed correctly. The heater can be installed in one of two ways. You can hardwire the heater directly to your battery or you can use the provided 12 volt power outlet. As the heater will only receive power while the utv is on using the 12 volt outlet, it will not drain your battery unless the auxiliary...

  • Recommended Heater for Basement of Slide-In Truck Camper
The Kat's Heaters # KH37100 that you'd looked at works very well, but at 900 watts of output it's more than you'd need for the small space you described. I'd recommend going with a 12V heater like the # KH37500 which has a 150 or a 300 watt setting that should be perfect for the basement of your slide in camper since it sounds like you don't necessarily want the area to be heated to room temperature, but would like it warm enough so that the pipes and tanks don't freeze and the propane...

  • Difference Between 150W and 300W Settings on Kat's Heaters Ceramic Interior Heater KH37500
I reached out to my contact at Kat's Heaters and he said when the Ceramic Interior Heater with Fan # KH37500 is switched to 150W it will draw 12.5 amps. When switched to 300W it will draw 25 amps. The difference between the two settings in terms of performance is its heat output (you will get a stronger/higher heat output with the higher wattage). It's just essentially like going from low to high on a space heater. I do recommend switching to a 30 amp fuse if possible for your setup,...
