Hey Bob,

The difference between the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-5 and Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-4 for a 2012-2014 Honda CR-V are just that the Crossbar-Style requires an added part for the tow bar.

For example, if you got the Direct-Connect you could just use the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 as-is. But if you got the Crossbar-Style and used the Falcon you would also have to add the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly # 910021-00.

Not having to use the crossbar assembly is simpler and just requires the insertion and removal of pins for the tow bar arms, while you have to line up the crossbar assembly perfectly, and it's just an extra step and extra part that you otherwise wouldn't need. So I'd 100% go with the Direct-Connect over the crossbar style.

@BobB In all honestly there really isn't a difference in regards to reliability between a Roadmaster base plate # RM-521567-5 and Demco # DM9519328. I still like the Roadmaster because it's the easiest base plate to connect your tow bar to, so that's the route I'd go.
