This setup keeps your front end looking smooth when you’re not towing. The base plate’s hidden design stays out of sight, and the removable arms come off with a twist, so there’s nothing sticking out past the bumper. Snap-in receiver covers help keep dirt and debris out of the sockets, leaving a clean, finished look and making sure the arms slide in smoothly next time you hook up.

Each arm inserts into the receiver and locks in place with a simple twist, then secures with a pin. When it’s time to remove them, pull the pin, rotate, and slide them out—no tools or wrestling required. This quick-connect setup makes it easy to get hitched up in minutes, even if you’re setting up solo at the campsite or driveway.

The base plate bolts directly to the chassis—no welding needed—and uses a sturdy design that spreads towing forces evenly to help prevent stress on your suspension. Powder-coated steel resists rust and corrosion through weather and road grime, giving you confidence on long hauls and cross-country trips.

Already using another tow bar system? You can keep it. This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure, reliable connection. It can also adapt for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5, or with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (each sold separately). Integrated mounting points let you easily add an electrical connector bracket for a tidy front-end wiring setup.
Everything bolts securely to your chassis using included hardware—no fabrication or welding required. The distance between brackets is 19" and bracket height is 16", so you can plan your setup around those specs. It’s a solid fit for anyone looking for a dependable, cleanly installed flat-tow connection that stays put mile after mile.

The Base Plate for a Honda CRV is a true value.
Ordered on Friday. Received Following Wednesday, as ordered. Also got 110% of difference in price on a couple of items that were less expensive on Amazon. Will continue to use ETrailer for their expertise. Thanks for good service.
installation instructions are very generic , online video helped . overall final fit and function are perfect
Installation instructions were good. Took me about 8 hr. to install.
Great piece of equipment. Installation not difficult. Drilling holes in the tow car frame, well you better get some good drill bits!
Install took about 8 hours. Had some issues with the baseplate it was a little bowed on one side. Little work in the vise and went in no problem. Put this on a 2007 CRV only had to make a couple mods to the coolant line and the front bumper to ensure clearance.
Ordered a base plate and Tow Daddy wiring harness for my Honda CRV on Sunday. Had it on Wednesday. Excellent service. The only negative was that they did not put someone in the box to help me install it.
I like the design and relatively easy install - I did it myself on a Honda CRV after I watched the great etrailer videos online. These walked me thru the install steps. Very helpful.
You put a guilt trip on me. I mounted the base plate and as of yet I
still have not tried to use it on my dinghy, a CRV Honda, behind our
motorhome.
Other than not trying it yet, it seemed to be a good application. We
have another car rigged as a dinghy so there was no urgency to try it.
Thanks for your inquiry.
This is the second baseplate we've ordered from etrailer. We ordered one more than 5 years ago when had our first tow car and when we recently purchased a new make and model as a tow car we immediately thought of etrailer. Our experience with them has always been easy and pleasant. They answer all questions graciously and informatively. We always enjoy our purchasing experience with them.
Works great. We tow a 2010 Honda CRV with no issues at all. Have towed about 8,000 miles with it so far. I installed it myself. Install was not very fun though. Make sure you have the best saw zall blades and cobalt drill bits. Have several extra of both and keep the bit lubricants with oil. You will never get the job done with cheap dill bits.
Installed with no problem. Have not as yet tried pulling the Honda with the motorhome. Note, if you need magnetic tow lights, be sure to order all at the same time to avoid seperate shipping charges.
used a dolly for years. Flat tow sooooooo much easier, better fuel mileage. would not go back to dolly.
That said, expensive to buy and install. easy to use and maintain.
This base plate was for a 2010 CR-V. The instructions were great and the fit was good. There was more trimming of the frame than I would have liked but it all went well. Have used it multiple times since installation and I am very happy with the plate!
Everything fitted very well. The baseplate is very well constructed and more than strong enough, which I cannot say about the Honda sub frame. I installed fish plates behind the sheet metal with loneger bolts. I am pleased with the installation and have towed with no problems.
Fast shipping and all parts were correc t.
I recently purchased a Blue Ox baseplate BX2246 from etrailer.com. The installation went well, the instructions were clear and the photographs exceptional. As you know part number 62-3468, attachment assembly, SF/SB R connects and may be removed from to the weldment base plate. The installation or towing instructions would be best if they included a photo and details for connecting and removing that part by users when not in use as the nose extends beyond the vehicle frame when the5 vehicle is not towed. Special attention shown to the connection and safety pin locking. Simple for many but not for all. Thank you.
Everything was received. The box was torn because inadequate packing material to stabilize the base plate from moving around during shipping. A friend and I installed the plate by following the instructions in how-to video. The only snag was the drilling. Be sure to get plenty high quality bits; the unibody metal is tougher than one might expect. I would definitely continue to purchase products from eTrailer and continue to recommend to friends and family. It's just easy to get what you need for your application/equipment. The pricing is competitive and the customer support is good.
I was unpleasantly surprised to find that I had to drill all 8 holes in the frame of my CRV to mount this Base plate. It looks good after installation but it was very labor intensive.

Im sorry that came as a surprise! Ill see what I can do about making that information a little more front and center on the page. The install looks great, though--where are you headed with the CR-V?
Have yet to tow with the recently installed base plate. Comments on install instructions:
While the base plate is still off the vehicle, verify the self-tapping screws that secure the wiring receptacle snugly fit and will tighten. In my case, the provided self-tapping screws were too small and would not tighten to hold the electrical connector in place. I ended up using a 1/4-20 tap to cut threads into the bracket. Regretfully I didn't notice this until after the base plate was installed, while finishing up the wiring. There is little room to work a tap once everything is back in place!
When removing the windshield washer reservoir, there is a connector securing the filler spout inside the engine compartment that the installation instructions & installation video neglect to tell you to remove prior to pulling the reservoir down & out.
Base plate mounting plates were bowed inward by nearly 3/8" making it extremely difficult to slide into position to drill mounting holes; suggest verifying the clear spacing between the plate at the crossbar and then again at the edge furthest away from the cross bar. If short, use a hydraulic jack and some timber spacers to spread out to proper width.
Finished install looks great, I'll supplement my review after towing.
This installation obviously was not a Bolt in Ready unit, but still installed with little difficulty. The biggest obstacle was trying to figure out exactly how much to cut and where, then figure out exactly where to Base plate was to go for proper hole drilling.
The illustration was less than adequate, however through process of elimnination it is on.

It is still working great and I am confident I will many years of use from it. I have used etrailer for my towing needs ffor over 10 years and it has always been a good experience. I intend to use etrailer in the future.
Bought it at etrailer as I have with other trailer hitch related parts. Installed it myself, and it was a real job. I figure about 10 hours to get it right so I didn't have to worry if my 'toad' would pass my motorhome as I tooled down the road. Fit was perfect for my 2008 Honda CRV, but make sure you keep that oil cooler line up as high as possible or you will be redoing the fit to get the front cowling back on the car. Bought an angle grinder with cutoff wheels and that made the frame notching a lot easier. Note that if the removeable attachment pins are a tight fit into the base plate, they will loosen up with a good silicone lubricant and the wear of towing. I have towed with confidence for a year without a hitch (pun intended).

USE RED THREAD LOCKER....I only had blue and it worked loose last spring. I caught it when unhitching after about 5000 miles, tore the front end apart again, re-installed with RED thread locker & after another 5000 miles its staying tight. Cant fault the product as there was a nice label indicating using RED, but I missed it. Learn from my oversight & happy trails.
The baseplate was delivered quickly. I had it professionally installed. It fit perfectly. Everything required for the installation was included in the box. All in all a very positive experience. I highly recommend etrailer for all your towing needs.
Blue ox needs to do a better job packing the base plate. It did not fit because it looked like it was dropped on edge and bent one side. Additionally, one of the nuts with wire p/n 61-5208 did not have a nut welded to it.
Blue ox baseplates make flat towing simple this is my second one.
