Features to know about

Keeps Every Trailer Level: 10" Drop or 9" Rise

Switching between trailers that sit at different heights can quickly throw off your setup. The Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount gives you a full 10" drop or 9" rise so you can fine-tune the hitch height for level towing. The mount adjusts in 2-1/2" increments, locking in place with heavy steel pins and clips that keep everything solid when loaded. A level trailer tracks straighter, brakes smoother, and stays stable on the road.

Handles Heavy Loads: Up to 15,000 lbs GTW

When you’re pulling serious weight, strength and stability matter most. This mount hauls up to 10,000 lbs with the 2" ball or up to 15,000 lbs with the 2-5/16" ball, with tongue weights of 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs respectively. The solid steel shank takes the strain without flexing, while the anti-rattle design helps cut down on noise and movement inside the receiver. It’s built to stay tight and dependable even under heavy loads.

One Mount for It All: Dual-Ball Versatility

Instead of juggling multiple hitches for different trailers, this one mount keeps things simple. The dual-ball setup gives you both a 2" ball and a 2-5/16" ball for quick changes between coupler sizes. Just pull the pins, rotate the platform, and reinsert—no tools needed. It’s ideal for anyone hauling different trailers week to week and wanting one reliable hitch that covers them all.

Built to Last: Steel Construction with Corrosion Resistance

Towing gear takes a beating from weather and road grime, but this mount is made to handle it. The heavy-duty steel shank has a matte black powder coat that resists chips and rust, while the chrome-plated balls stand up to corrosion from moisture and salt. It stays looking good and working strong through years of towing duty without needing constant upkeep.

Quiet and Steady: Anti-Rattle Design for Smooth Towing

No one wants that clunk every time you hit a bump. The anti-rattle shank helps cut down on vibration between the receiver and ball mount so your trailer rides quieter and steadier. Combined with the secure pin fitment and solid steel build, it gives you a smoother towing experience every time you hook up.

Video Transcript for Feature Review Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this Curt adjustable ball mount. It's got a dual ball design, so you don't have to worry about switching this out. It's as easy as flipping this around if you need to use the 2 5/16-inch ball or the two-inch ball for whatever trailer you wanna pull. Let's check it out. What the adjustable ball mount's gonna be good for, is if you have different trailers that you haul that you have to adjust with different heights on your truck.

So, instead of having a bunch of different ball mounts that have different rises and drops, you have it all in one here. So you can move this up and down, wherever you need it, to make sure it's level with the truck and trailer. And not only that, you can switch which size you need for what kind of coupler. Now let's look at how it works. So you're gonna have the clip here and you remove this so you can remove the pins.

The clip's a little different from normal clips on other ball mounts, but it still works pretty well. You're gonna pull on this loop at the bottom. This comes off of this pin. Then we can push this off. The hook will release on the top.

And now, we'll just pull the pins from this side, I will say, you do have to push in a little bit to remove the first one. It's not that bad though, just a little bit of pressure is all it needs to remove that pin. Then make sure you hold this, when you go to remove the top one. Now you can slide it up and down wherever you need it to be. So this would be as far as it can get in the drop position and then we can go all the way down here and set it to adjust to a lower trailer.

So all-in-all, you're gonna have a 10-inch drop and then you're gonna have a nine-inch rise if you flip it upside down. Focusing on the dual ball design, I like that they're already installed, so you don't have to worry about torquing them down, or adding them to the accessory. If you're gonna use a 2 5/16-inch ball, it's gonna have a trailer weight rating of 15,000 pounds. So that's gonna have a tongue weight rating of 1,500 pounds. Now, if you switch to the two-inch ball, it's gonna have a gross trailer weight rating of 10,000 pounds and have a tongue weight rating of 1,000 pounds. So just keep that in mind, which what kind of truck and trailer combination you're gonna be the one pulling. Now this ball mount's gonna have a black butter cover finish on sturdy steel construction, so you don't have to worry about being scratched or corroding when you're leaving out of the elements. So you're gonna leave this in the back of the hitch, it should be just fine. There's gonna be two different versions of this adjustable ball mount. There's gonna be the two inch version, it's what we're using today. Now this is a two and a half inch hitch. We're using a reducer to make it work, but there is another version that is a two and a half inch. So it'll just slide around in there without the reducer. So they'll have those two options for whatever ball mount you might need. The pin and clip are not included, so you'll have to order that separately. And I suggest if you're investing in this adjustable ball mount, to get one of the locking hitch pins, that way you can lock it up on the side and nobody can mess with this when you're not around. Overall, I like this adjustable ball mount. I think it would be really helpful to have, to adjust those different heights for the different trailers and then switch out which ball size you want to use for the different couplers. Makes it far easier than to have a bunch of these assemblies in the back of your truck, taking up space. We can get it all done with this one. Now there is different versions out there. If you're looking for something a little bit different, there is the B and W tow and stow and that one's gonna go along a track, so you don't fully remove the accessory, it actually moves up and down here and actually can flip up underneath the truck. So if you don't want so much sticking out here, that's an option that you, if you're worried about hitting your shin or your leg, when you're walking around the back of the truck. Also, Gen Y has the Phantom, that's another adjustable ball mount out there. That one's gonna have stacked receivers. So if you like that design a little better, you slide the accessory, it has a dual ball mount. You slide into the different receivers and move it up and down. If you like that look better. This one's just nice, 'cause it's all right here, ready to go. Like I said before, you can adjust the height quickly, switch which size you're gonna need and get it hooked up the trailer and get on the road. Well, I think that's all it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helped.

Works grest

Super Heavy Duty!! Everything came quickly and I'm sure it will meet all my towing needs.

by:

It leveled out my ATV trailer very nice
I have a lifted truck and needed the longest drop you had
The only thing I am disappointed in is the pin system
While the pins are heavy duty the securing system sucks.

by:

Great drop hitch, shipped very fast, super pleased with it

by:

Shipping and packaging was great. The hitch was overcoated so the locking pins I bought from you wouldn’t fit. I had to sand the holes for the pins would go through to hold the balls. Then the 2.5 receiver end was too small for the third pin. I was under the assumption that three pins all keyed the same would be one to attach to the truck and two for the ball attachment. So I had to buy aggressive sanding disks and another locking pin that would fit the receiver section to the truck due to the hitch diameter being to small. These products (hitch& pins) should have been a simple 5 minute installation and it was a few hours and phone to ask for direction

by:

This product is super heavy duty and works well for towing multiple trailers that I own.

by:

Very well made.

Love the hitch and especially the way it looks. Also love the east of flipping the ball over. The spring clip pin holder is great and quick to use although I have racked my knuckles a few times getting it off. I only have 2 minor complaints. One is the chrome ball is rusting already but. It could be related to the corrosive deicer they use on Montana winter roads but they are not supposed to use it anymore. Second is the receiver shaft seems a little wobbly in the receiver.

by:

This drop hitch is a beast! Fits good and all holes line up. Seems to be made very well.

Hey T, thanks for reaching out! The Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C49NR only comes with the 2-ball configuration, but if you get the Weigh Safe Aero Hitch # WS87MR you can get the same kind of setup with a 10" drop and a 12.5K weight rating. Attached is a video for you to check out on the Weigh Safe. I'm guessing you want a 1-ball setup for better ground clearance. If you have a different reason, please let me know and I'll be happy to look into it!

  • Availability of Drop Shank for Curt Weight Distribution System
Hey Charlie, yes the shank of the Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C49NR would work to replace the shank of your Curt weight distribution system but it might make more sense to just go with a drop shank like the part # C17121 instead if all you really need is the shank?

  • How to Replace Hitch Balls on the 15K Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount
To replace either of the hitch balls that come with the Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C49NR you need the Curt Dual Ball Attachment # C69NR. The individual hitch balls aren't replaceable so you have the get the platform piece, but you don't have to replace the entire ball mount. This platform section also comes with the pins to attach it to the shank so you can either have extras or use those as replacements as well.

  • Locking Pin and Anti-Rattle Recommendation for Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount for 2" Hitches
To lock and stabilizer the Curt Deep Drop Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C49NR to your hitch receiver I recommend the following: - etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer # e99007 - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98882 I really like our anti-rattle device because it gives consistent pressure on the shank of the ball mount, and then our locking hitch pin has a stainless steel construction so the elements won't get to it. I've attached some videos of each for you to check out.
