Getting the trailer height right makes all the difference in how stable and smooth it tows. This adjustable ball mount gives you up to a 4" drop or 4" rise, so you can dial in the perfect setup for different trailer heights. The platform slides along the shank in 1" increments and locks in place with dual pins, keeping your connection level and steady mile after mile.
When you’re hauling serious weight, strength isn’t optional. This mount is rated for 10,000 lbs gross towing weight whether you’re using the included 2" ball or the 2-5/16" clamshell adapter. The solid steel shank and heavy-duty design give you the confidence to pull boats, campers, or equipment trailers without worrying about flex or fatigue.
Switching between trailers doesn’t have to mean swapping out mounts. The included stainless steel clamshell adapter snaps right over the 2" hitch ball to create a 2-5/16" towing option when needed. It installs easily and locks in tight, so you can change setups quickly without tools or hassle.
Towing gear takes a beating from road salt, moisture, and grit. The black powder-coated steel shank and stainless steel hitch ball resist corrosion and surface wear, keeping their clean look and solid feel even after long trips. It’s a setup built for real use in every season.
Everything you need comes in the box—a pre-installed stainless hitch ball, clamshell adapter, and a 5/8" pin with clip to secure it in your receiver. Slide it into your 2" x 2" trailer hitch, set your height, lock it down with the pins, and you’re ready to hook up and go.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Blue Ox Adjustable Ball Mount with Clamshell for your two-inch hitch receiver. Now, this adjustable ball mount with the included pre-installed two-inch hitch ball, we'll slide into your two inch receiver, and this is going to give you a maximum drop or maximum rise if you flip this over of four inches with an incremental adjustment of one inch, and this is going to give you that height adjustability that you're looking for so you can tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. So, this includes this clamshell adapter, so you can have a 2 5/16 inch hitch ball option, and it's going to easily install by just clamping around the two-inch ball. So, you're not gonna have to worry about installing another ball or flipping the ball platform over or anything like that. This is just gonna be a very easy thing to do that if you need to in a pinch, tow something that has a 2 5/16 inch coupler, you just put that over the two-inch ball and you'll be good to go.
Now, this does have a gross towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and again, you'll get a maximum drop or rise of four inches. This hitch is constructed of a powder-coated steel, so it's heavy-duty rather, and it's gonna hold up really well for you. The stainless steel hitch ball and clam shell are corrosion-resistant, so they're gonna hold up really well as well, and this is going to be pretty easy to adjust. You're just going to slide the ball mount platform up or down the shank and secure it in place with the included pins and clips. So, lemme go ahead and remove these clips and then just give you a brief demonstration here.
So, I'm just popping this clip open, and you do wanna be careful. You probably know that those clips have a pretty good recoil on them and I have bruised a few fingernails with those closing up on me, so just be aware of that. So, I'm gonna remove the pins that come out pretty easily and so you're just gonna be able to slide this up and down or if you could even flip this over if you're wanting that rise. So, you're not going to be in the back of your vehicle struggling to get the right adjustment, you'll just find what's gonna work best for you and insert the pins. So, lemme go ahead and reinsert those pins.
So, that's what I appreciate about this is it's relatively easy to adjust. So, just line up my holes there, those pins slide in out really easily, and then replace the clips, just like that. And then another nice addition is this does have a 5/8 inch pin and clip that's included to secure your ball mount to your trailer hitch receiver. If you don't have a hitch lock option, I would recommend checking out the options that we have here at etrailer.com just to make sure that your investment here is secured to the back of your vehicle and someone can't come by and easily yank it out of your trailer hitch receiver when you're not by your truck. Some measurements that I took that you might be interested in.
Measuring from the center of what I'm calling the first hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, we're sitting at about 8 1/4 inches. Moving over to the second hitch pin hole, center to center, 9 5/8 inches, and then from the center of the second hitch pin hole to the end of the shank, about two inches. So, if you're looking for an adjustable ball mount, that's gonna be even easier to swap out the ball sizes, this might be a great option for you to consider. Well that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.

It's a very well made hitch. Highly recommend this hitch
My kid has used it an works as should.
Great ball mount that is fully adjustable in 1" increments.
Item arrived in a timely manner and looks great. I haven’t hooked up a trailer but the adjustability and the clamshell adapter look very promising.
Great hitch. Super heavy duty and quickly adaptable from 2" to 2-5/16" with the clamshell.
Absolutely. One our best investments for camping
I love the product. Love Etrailer. Unfortunately, the product came with damage. There was not enough damage for me to return it, but it was dropped. The paint was chipped, and the drop pins didn't seem to operate correctly.
Great product, used with varying trailers with different hitch heights. The square tubing that slips into the receiver could be a couple of inches longer to better position a mud flap holder, especialy for stock Duramax exhaust. It does work OK.
Quality materials and simple design.
Needed an adjustable heavy duty hitch for several different trailers I use, this one was worth the extra money, easy to adjust. Had bent cheaper hitches in the past. And would replace with the 2” version if I ever go back to a half ton truck
Nicely built and sharp looking. Haven’t used yet sure it tows just fine. 3 stars as Blue Ox for this price should have used locking pins both on receiver portion and adjustable ball mount. Now I have to buy the locking pins as extras and I’ve been seeing competitors that do provide the appropriate pins at comparable prices.
Great drop hitch. Clamshell is a great idea for quick interchangeability. Cotter pins to adjust the ball up and down that come with hitch are not so great. The cotter pin fell out and the whole second pin was missing before I noticed. Easily replaced with better, and no issues since.
