What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this Brophy hitch ball, so it's gonna go on your ball mount to help you tow a trailer. Let's check it out. This is gonna go with your ball mount. We're gonna set it through there. Make sure you measure.
And it has an inch diameter here on the shank of the ball, (shank clanking) so that'll fit right in there. You're gonna make sure you have the appropriate ball for the ball mount. On the other side, we'll have a lock washer and a nut. Now, I'm just gonna do it to hand-tight because this is demonstration purposes. You definitely wanna tighten yours way down.
You wanna give it to the proper torque specifications before you go towing a trailer. To help you tighten down the ball, there's these flat spots on the side that a wrench can fit on. That way, you can use a torque wrench to finalize and torque the nut on the bottom. You can have a gross trailer weight rating of 8,000 pounds and a tongue weight rating of 800 pounds, so keep that in mind with what you're towing. And also keep in mind, if the ball mount doesn't line up with that.
So if the max gross trailer weight rating on the ball mount is 6,000, go by that, whatever has the least number. You don't want to stress out the whole system you got set up. The ball's got a chrome-plated finish on it, so it's not gonna rust or corrode if you leave it on the back of your vehicle all the time. The elements aren't gonna get to it. It might get scratched up a little bit when you load the coupler on there and actually tow the trailer, but that just happens when you use them.
Overall, I do think this is a good option for your ball mount. Make sure that you check your coupler on your trailer, that you need a two-inch ball, and then also, measure the diameter of the hole on your ball mount to make sure this is gonna fit and it's one inch. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and hope this helps.
