I have ordered from etrailer several times and I’m always happy with the purchase. The prices are low and the service is awesome. Thanks etrailer

Bulldog couplers are the best simple ball coupler ever. Whenever a coupler on one of my trailers becomes even slightly worn, I replace it with a bulldog -- you never have to worry about one of these comming off the ball, no matter what it's put through.

by:

Very happy with this replacement hitch. It is heavier than I thought it would be. Maybe even heavier than the original that was on the trailer.
Will keep you guys in mind if I need other parts or hear or someone looking for parts. Thanks for a great product!!!

by:

The collar hitch was put on my home made trailer and we use it 2-3 times a week. It is smooth working and easy to hook up. Thanx

by:

This will be the 3rd BD Coupler to be installed on my trailers. I've switched two trailers out already to BD Couplers and based on the good results, I plan on doing the 3rd one shortly. Keep it lubed on all the moving pivot points and it should last forever.

by:

Gotta love a Bulldog hitch- easy to operate, with a positive action. Made of thicker metal than original troublesome 1-1/2-year-old cheap hitch. Expect years of service on travel trailer.

by:

I am in the process of building a small boat trailer, etrailer has everything I need,,lights will be next on the list,,the coupler is great and got here in 3 days..

by:

This is exactly what we needed to put our trailer back together. very good quality we would buy from again

by:

Exactly as described. If you haven't ordered from E-trailer yet.....YOU SHOULD! Boxed and shipped quickly.

by:

This is a great coupler, and the price is the best I have found. It went on very easily over the top of the original one that was on my horse trailer.

by:

Very excited about our new hitch. Product arrived just as I expected and was here in just a few days.

by:

Product was exactly as advertised, and got here earlier than expected. I plan to use it on an old pickup truck frame which I am converting into a pull behind trailer. Staff very helpful and efficient.

by:

Product was as advertised, Fit Great, Delivery great. The only issue was tracking from shipment to delivery I definitely would recommend your company for doing business. Thanks

by:

Way better than the original one I cut off. Much heavier than what is needed, But east to use. No more having that tongue getting in the way.

by:

Works perfectly

by:

Works fine.....should last forever.

by:

The product was just as expected. It is very solid and sturdy.

by:

Delivered on time at a fair price.

by:

Exactly what I needed.

  • Comparing CA-5196-B And BD028288 Couplers And Availability Of Bolt-On Options
Hello Ryan. The # CA-5196-B Ram Sleeve Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler and the Bulldog # BD028288 are fairly similar. They are both 50 degree a-frame couplers designed for a 2" ball and both are about 16" long overall. The main difference is the # CA-5196-B is rated for 7,000 lbs, while the Bulldog is rated for only 5,000. We do offer a few really nice option for a bolt-on A-frame coupler. Take a look at the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-52. This is designed to be bolted on, and...

  • Would Bulldog A-Frame Trailer Coupler BD028200 Fit a 1993 Coachmen Catalina Light
99 percent of A-frame trailers on the road have the same 50 degree frame angle for the install of a coupler like the part # BD028288 that you referenced. This coupler will fit your 1993 Coachmen Catalina Light.

  • Is Bulldog Collar Lok Coupler # BD028288 Good Choice for Escape Travel Trailer
As long as your Escape travel trailer is going to always weigh less than 5,000 lbs the Bulldog Collar Lok Coupler part # BD028288 is going to work great as this a very reliable and durable coupler style that's easy to use and will last a long time. It does require welding to install. This wouldn't take much time at all for a welder so they'd probably charge you one shop hour if that's their minimum.

  • Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler Recommendation for a Tandem Axle Flat Bed Trailer
As long as the 5,000 lb capacity of the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028384 or the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028288 is adequate for the weight that your flat bed trailer will see then either will work well for you. The difference between the two is in the latching mechanism. The # BD028288 has a low profile latching system that would work great if you needed additional clearance near the draw bar of your vehicle. If you did not have any clearances issues in that area you could use...

  • Spring Keeps Falling Out of Bulldog Collar-Lok Trailer Coupler
I don't think you are doing anything wrong necessarily. There are 2 possible issues that I can think of causing the problem. First, the spring may not be the correct size. A spring that is too short and/or not the correct diameter would fall out. Second, if the spring is not seated in the detents inside the coupler then it could work itself out. Also you will need to make sure that the hinged part of the coupler does not come all the way out of the collar. It is not supposed to swing...

  • Replacement Spring Installation for a Bulldog Collar Lok Coupler
Basically you will want to compress the spring part # BD500354 so that you can position it in place on your Bulldog Coupler. I attached a picture that shows where the spring installs at. It will just be a matter of compressing the spring to get it in place or using small slot screwdrivers as a leverage point to position the spring in place. A set of needle nose style vice grips would work well, but I would imagine the easiest way would be to position one end of the spring in place and then,...

  • Replacement Bulldog Collar Lok Coupler for a Trailer with Damaged Coupler
We only have replacement springs and latches for the Bulldog Collar Lok couplers. We do not have the lower piece it sounds like you are looking for. You would need to replace the entire coupler. The part # BD028288 would work well as a replacement as it looks like that is exactly what you have on your trailer.

  • How Does the Bulldog High-Profile Latch Repair Kit Attach to the Trailer Coupler
It sounds like you are used to using a Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler, like part # BD028288, and that your new coupler is the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ Pin, # BD028244, which is designed to be used as you have indicated. You have to grasp the coupler and pull the collar back to release the jaw. The Bulldog High-Profile Latch Repair Kit, # BD024200, is desingned to be used on the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ High-Profile Latch, item # BD028382, which has an attachment point on the couplers...

There are several different styles of Bulldog 2B coupler latches. If your coupler has the high profile latch like the one on our Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler w/ High-Profile Latch, item # BD028462, the Bulldog High-Profile Latch Repair Kit, item # BD024200, will be the correct replacement. • Why Would a Trailer Hitch Come Detached From the Ball During Travel?
When you mention locking collar, I am led to believe that you might be describing a hammer blow-type coupler, like our part # BD028288. This type of coupler has a collar that would slide up, securing the jaws of the coupler in place over the trailer ball. This collar is secured by a safety pin. If the pin is missing, this could explain why the coupler is coming open. If you have a standard latch-type coupler, it is possible that the latch mechanism is worn out or damaged. Depending on...

  • Why Did My Trailer Become Unlatched While Towing My Sea Doo Trailer
James, there could be a number of reasons why the coupler decided to unlatch itself but it's probably due to a worn out latching mechanism in the coupler. To make sure it does not happen again, I'd suggest either replacing the latch or the entire coupler with a new one. If you want to replace the entire coupler, a coupler that has a locking collar like the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028288. This would be ideal since the built in collar would slide up and secure the jaws of the coupler...
