Replacement Spring Installation for a Bulldog Collar Lok Coupler
Published 03/24/2015 >
Question:
Part # 500354 replacement spring for a 2inch collar lock Bulldog hitch. Due to operator error, I lost the spring in my hitch. I want to replace it and your support department supplied me with the part number. I have an identical hitch on another trailer with the spring in place. Even with all this information, I cant figure out how to replace the spring! Is there a cut away view and or instructions available? Thank you.

Basically you will want to compress the spring part # BD500354 so that you can position it in place on your Bulldog Coupler. I attached a picture that shows where the spring installs at. It will just be a matter of compressing the spring to get it in place or using small slot screwdrivers as a leverage point to position the spring in place. A set of needle nose style vice grips would work well, but I would imagine the easiest way would be to position one end of the spring in place and then, using a screwdriver, wedge move the other end of the spring so that it will seat in it's location. A couple screw drivers may be needed.
