Question:

Hi experts. First time towing. I have a 1200 lb tear trailer that I will tow with a 2025 Honda Passport Trailsport. I have a long narrow driveway, with a very slight incline, to my garage where I will store the trailer. The trailer currently has a standard crank jack. When perfectly level, the bottom of the coupler sits right about 12. The trailer frame is 1.5 inches wide across the top and 2.5 inches in height. The builder indicated it is a 2500 lb. steel frame, although the jack label says it holds 2000 lbs. I have several questions: 1 will this jack work with my frame? 2 Does or can this jack replace the standard jack? 3 Is the chain drive system/hand crank easy enough to use for a solo woman 55 y.o. to move and maneuver it down a long, narrow driveway and into a garage? 4 Will it be difficult to move/maneuver because my trailer is rather low to the ground or can I address this through installation? I am evaluating whether it is best to get this type of jack or an electric dolly based on budget it would not be a high end electric dolly. I have attached photos of the front of the frame and current jack. I have also attached a picture from the side of my driveway showing the incline. Because of the picture angle, the incline is actually a little less than it looks in the picture,

Hi Priscilla!

To answer all your questions, yes! ^___^

Now the more in depth answers to each of you inquiries:

1. This will fit frames up to 2-3/4" wide x 6" tall, but it can absolutely be used with smaller ones like you have. This will pose no issues at all.
2. This can indeed replace the jack you currently have. It will have more capacity and being able to use this as a dolly really makes it better than most other jacks on the market.
3. When in the low gear, you will turn the handle 14 times to have the wheel/tire turn once. This means literally anyone can handle this jack to move a trailer. The brake also gives you the ability to stop everything in an "Uh oh" situation. However, I do think the drill adapter # TVDA is a good add-on here as it makes the process even easier.
4. For this one, I meant you can address the maneuverability and height during the install. The bracket that attaches to your frame has multiple mounting holes and the entire bracket can actually be turned upside down if needed (see included image for reference). There is some serious customization possible!

Thanks so much! This does make me feel better about my capabilities of using the trailer valet. My trailer is a home build using parts from Vintage Technologies (not by me). I'd send a pic but this won't let me. As a side note, will any drill work? I don't yet have one and will need to purchase. Thank you.

@Priscilla You're very welcome! ^___^ And yes, any drill will work with this. I would just grab a fairly inexpensive one from Harbor Freight. I got one from there and I actually use it for cleaning my bathtub more than as an actual drill! It's super handy with the kinds of attachments out there these days! Some day we will be able to add pictures to the comments, but alas, today is not that day. Sounds like a pretty cool trailer though! Hi Priscilla, Sounds like you already have your answer. I will add my own personal experience. I have a 16-foot trailer that I use to haul both our motorcycles. I purchased the Trailer Valet 5X to simplify moving the trailer around when parking it in tight places. It just makes moving it around so much easier. On grass, concrete, dirt, or gravel, the wheels work fine. I bought the drill motor attachment to use with it, but I haven't been using it because of the different gears on the valet. I'm 63 and still have the strength to crank the handle. I highly recommend it.
