Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Bike Carrier Anti-Sway and Standard Cradle Replacement Review

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer. And today we are looking at the Replacement Anti Cradle Set for your Hollywood Racks bike rack here at Etrailer. Some reasons why you would need this anti-sway cradle set is maybe you have your bike rack and you've had it for a couple of years. It's been sitting out in the sun. What does tend to happen is that your especially your straps can get a little brittle. Or not as elastic for your bikes and you find it doesn't have the same experience as before.

It's a very quick and easy process just to replace them. To make sure you are secure on the road. This comes with a replacement anti-sway cradle three straps, as well as a standard cradle. And this fits an inch and a quarter diameter arms. So Hollywood Racks uses two different sizes for their bike racks.

They have an inch diameter arm and an inch and a quarter. So please check which size you have on your bike rack and choose the correct replacement part. This set has enough to replace one pair or set of cradles and straps. So if you have a four bike, bike rack like what we have here you would need four of these kits to replace all of it. These come with straps, are eight inches and a half long.

And the straps themselves are really nice, strong rubber which means that they will stretch just enough to wrap around your bike but they are sturdy enough to keep it secured. The cradles themselves are a perfect fit for Hollywood Racks bike racks. But I do know that some people use it on bike racks of other brands. So as long as it has an inch and a quarter diameter it's gonna fit. As for installing them.

Now, it was kind of a tricky process because it is a larger arm. It did take a little bit of force and I did use a rubber mallet in some areas just to get them into position. So keep that in mind as you install your replacement cradles. So let's take a look at that process. To replace your cradle, what you first need to do is take off the end cap off of your bike rack. You're gonna need a Phillips head screwdriver and just pop that off once that screws out and then rotate this cradle out and then put the new one in and just push it back into place. And now this is a really difficult process because the inch and a quarter's a little bit larger. So I recommend using warm, soapy water and that will help lubricate the arms to make it slide easier. The exact same process for the standard cradle. And once you have your cradles in you can then put the straps into the knobs. They fit the large hole right into one side of the knob and then use any hole you want for the second knob. And once all is in place you can then put your end caps back on. Take off the screw underneath and pop that off. From there you can then slide on well off, your old cradle and then slide your new one right in. Now, keep working at that cradle and trying to get it back onto the arm. You may need to rotate it as well as use some soap or some sanitizer before you have it on there. But once you do, you can then put your placement strap onto the knobs of the cradle. And once it's on there, that's it for the install after you put the end cap back on. My final thoughts about this replacement cradle set is I really do like how it has everything you need to replace your cradles. Again if you have other needs, like just the straps you can find a strap only kit or a standard cradle plus strap only kit. This comes with the anti-sway. Which I like since it does reduce that sway of your bikes on the road and keeps you safe. The install process was okay. You didn't need any tools, but a little extra arm strength. But all in all, it works to replace your cradles. And that was a look here at our Replacement Anti-Sway Cradle Set for your Hollywood Racks bike racks here at Etrailer..

Replacement Anti-Sway and Standard Cradles for Hollywood Racks Hanging Bike Rack - 1-1/4" Arms - HR755AS

Replaces anti-sway cradles and a standard cradle on your Hollywood Racks hanging-style bike rack. Works for Baja, Over-the-Top, Road Runner, and Traveler bike racks. Designed for racks with 1-1/4" diameter arms.

I have a X-Sport Slipstream, 4 bike rack. It is 15 years old and the Arizona heat has weakened the cradles and straps to the point they are all failing. I tried ordering the original equipment replacements but they were not available for about 9 months. I found these Hollywood replacement packs available now. Installing was a challenge as they are TIGHT. Spray the bar with soapy water.(like when we put handlebar grips on our kids bikes) This is probably a must do! I got the rear anti-sway cradle on OK but the front cradle was tighter. I used a short 1x2 wood block and a rubber mallet to drive the front on. My original cradles would move toward the back of the rack when driving highway speeds for a long distance. This was an annoyance, but I guarantee these replacements will not move due to wind resistance. They are a little different but work just as well as the originals.

I just received these, so i count vouch for longevity, but word to the wise if you have an Export Slipstream with the 1.25 inch tubes. These are a major hassle to get on. I used silglide silicone lubricant and still had to use my rubber mallet to position them. Time will tell the rest, but at least I have cradles for the carrier now. Old ones sun rotted.

these fit my old Xport 1.5" bar rack perfectly. Installed easily with a little soapy water and elbow grease. Cradles and straps seem as sturdy as the originals. Only con is that the anti-sway piece is kind of bulky and not well suited to most modern frame styles.

It fits very tight and I cannot get on the rack bar more than 2 inch's. tried lub, very tight.

I needed to replace some original equipment on my bike rack. You are on vacation and had to have it delivered to an RV park we were staying at. The original parts lasted and extremely long time and we're very serviceable. I expect the replacement parts to do the same. This is a great bike rack. It has gone through long tough use in hot Arizona Sun

Couldnt be better

Hollywood parts fit nicely on 1 1/4" Xport bike racks. New parts are more rigid than originals and should last longer.

Still working well - used the bike rack yesterday and the replacement parts work better than the original ones

The replacement parts were exactly what I needed. The quality and price was comparable to buying a from the original manufacturer at a significant savings. Highly recommend for anyone needing help any type of rack or parts.

Product was exactly as described and fit perfectly. Have only used the bike rack once since installing the new cradles, but am confident they'll last for quite awhile.

A year later, the parts are still in great shape, firmly holding my bikes. These replacement parts extended the life of my bike rack at a fraction of the cost.

The guys at etrailer were fantastic. Not only did they help me find hard to come by parts but the parts were shipped quickly at little or no cost. Highly recommend them to anyone in need.

Order was fulfilled promptly and accurately.
parts installed easily and are performing exactly as described.
I will certainly use again.

etrailer shipped my order promptly and as of today I am still using the items. I do have to apply a little armorall to get the loops over the stubs but other than that the product works well.

Nice replacements, but very difficult to put on. Super tight fit that required lubricant and a 24 inch piece of 1 1/4" PVC pipe to tap on with a hammer. Fast shipping and great seller communication.

Delivered as expected

The replacement parts, a few new bolts, and some paint made the rack look brand new.

My order was delivered as promised and in the time frame needed.

Holding up well

As described

Good quality and customer service

  • Replacement Frame Cradles for a Discontinued Rhode Gear Bike Rack with 1-1/4 in Diameter Arms
I went and pulled a Replacement Cradle # RG8890084 from our warehouse to measure the diameter of the hole and determined that it would only fit on a 1 inch diameter arm. So if your arms are 1-1/4 inches in diameter you would need something different. The Hollywood Racks Replacement Cradles # HR755AS are designed to fit Hollywood Rack bike racks with 1-1/4 inch diameter rack arms, but since you have 1-1/4 inch arms they should work well for you too.
