Video Transcript for Thule Hitch Bike Racks 753-3535 Review

Today we're going to review part number 753-35-35. This is the Thule Replacement Rubber Strap for the Thule Bike Racks that use the T3 Cradles. Now this strap is used to hold down your bike to the bike rack cradle. This rubber strap replaces a lost or damaged strapped on your Thule Bike Carrier that uses the T3 Cradles. You can see on this one end of the strap it does have a hard plastic attachment to it. Now the Bottle Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles are the Thule Ridgeline, The Roadway, The Revolver, and the Spare-Me Bike Racks.

This part in quantity is for one strap. If you notice it has the six holes right here, the round holes, and the measurement on those holes center to center is 1 inch. Total length, let's see if I can get you a total length on this from the very tip to the very tip. It's going to be right at 10-1/2 inches. The diameter of the smaller holes are 1/2-inch and this one big large on the end is about 1-1/2 inches. That should do it for the review on part number 753-35-35.

This is the Thule replacement Rubber Strap for Thule Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles.

It took some time to determine which were the right parts for my very old Thule bike rack, but we got it done with the help of Noah in customer service. The install was easy and these replacement parts worked great along with the originals. The reason for 4 star is the price of the straps is ridiculous at $[XX] each which is separate from the cradle at $[XX] each!

I ordered the replacement rubber straps for our Thule bike rack that is mounted on the back of our Jeep Liberty. My husband replaced the old worn straps with the new ones in no time at all and was extremely pleased with the replacement straps.

I was fortunate to find exact replacement hardware for my Hitch Style Bike Rack. The old hardware needed replacement to hold the Bikes securely. Your customer service was very helpful in helping me find the correct items. Thank you so much!

Installed the spare parts today. Excellent results. I had an old Bell Bike Rack with broken clips and replaced them with these. Perfect fit, a very nice upgrade. You definitely have to use soap to get them on the bar (unless you're a masochist).

Exact replacement and quick delivery. Made the rack usable again.

Excellent service as usual! The product was exactly as advertised. eTrailer always does a great job with their website, customer service, shipping and follow-up. Nice job! Keep up the good work!

Straps are the exact ones that came with original rack that is now 13 years old. Website was very detailed and easy to use.

I bought two of these to use on an old Bell bike rack with 1 inch tubes. It fit perfectly! It's very heavy duty and strong; WAY better than the old school velcro it came with. Good purchase!

It was fast, friendly, and efficient. The bike rack parts fit right on. I'm happy I decided to rebuild my Thule bike rack.

I received the straps and the cradles quickly. They fit my Bell 3 carrier bike rack which I converted to a 2 carrier bike rack. They are difficult to screw on so I ended up spraying a little WD40 on the posts. I ended up with a blister but it was worth the end result. Thanks!!!

- 753-3535
by:

Replaced my inexpensive bike rack cradles with the Thule cradles and straps and am really happy. They are much stronger and easier to strap in the bike than the Velcro straps that came with the carrier. The rack is 1" tubing and it fits fine.

I wanted to respond to thank you and your company for your service. The bike rack parts have been great for us. Here is a picture of how we use your products. I have built some custom bike racks for the back of our trucks and we use the Thule saddles and straps to hold down the bikes

- 753-3535
by: 05/02/2021

Our Thule bike rack is old, like 18 years old. It had broken bike stays and nylon straps with clips to hold the bike on. These fit and work great. A brand new bike rack. Thanks.

- 753-3535
by:

Hardest part was removing screws. Spray wd40 the day you order and everyday until the parts arrive. Then tap lightly and eazy-peazy

- 753-3535
by:

todo muy profecional y de muy buena calidad envio rapido y buena cominicacion super recomendado everything is really professional and in very good quality, the shipping is fast and the communication is amazing, really recommend!

- 753-3535
by:

Thule no longer makes the same type of cradle and strap for my bike carrier and this model is the recommended replacement. The cradle is a very tight fit and I don't think that it will be as easy to adjust as the original part. The strap seems fine and if it breaks I can replace the strap separately unlike the original part. I looked for this on Amazon, eBay, and the other usual suspects and e-trailer had the best combination of price & shipping.

- 753-3535
by:

This cradle works perfectly. Installation Tip: Apply Vaseline to the inside of the cradle and this cradle will slide easily over the Thule bike carrier arms.

- 753-3535
by:

the product is exactly what I wanted, shipped quickly, I had searched around for these replacement straps and the only ones I could find came from Thule, exactly the same, and these are half the price. Again, I was impressed at how quickly they got the order out and to me. Joe L

- 753-3535
by:

Exact replacement part. Perfect for need and specifications. So much so, since my Thule bike rack is discontinued (though in no way requires replacement), I ordered spare parts (end caps) and just placed an order for 6 additional straps. That should keep my rack in service for longer than I'm likely to be able to ride a bike.

Comments
I had forgotten about the reviews, but not about the parts and my Thule bike rack I see it every day. What I originally wrote in the reviews still applies in all ways a year later. The rack is like new because of the parts and compared to the newer racks that Ive seen, I think I have the superior product in terms of the design and solidity of materials and construction - it must weigh 40lbs. by itself. Thus, I was really happy to find the exact replacement parts I needed straps, caps and stop. Thanks for the follow-up. Nice touch.

Replaced the wore out straps on my old Bell bike rack. Like new.

- 753-3535

Exactly what we needed for our Thule bike carrier. Other products would not have worked and these are the same straps as the originals. Excellent service- shipped quick.

- 753-3535

Seem strong and in new condition. Fit is exact with cradle.

etrailer sells several straps for bike racks and I found the one I needed by matching their website picture to my broken strap. Received the strap and worked perfectly.

  • How to Install the Thule Replacement Strap 753-3535 for Hanging Bike Racks
Installation of the T3 cradle replacement strap is pretty straight forward. You will need to remove the end cap from the end of the bike support arm, a Phillips screw typically holds the cap in place. Next use a small amount of soap and water to help the cradles, # 853-5829, slide off easily. Once you have the cradles off installation is just the reverse, orient the strap, cradle and anti sway bracket, if needed, together and then slide them on to the correct position.

Actually, the correct strap for your Thule Helium is less expensive than either of the straps you mentioned. If you have the older Thule Helium, part # TH971, it used a now discontinued strap, part number 853-5834. The newer Thule Helium Aero, part # TH9043 uses the # 852-3006-001 replacement strap. The good news is the # 852-3006-001 will also fit the older model.

  • Troubleshooting Difficult Use of Thule Rubber Strap for Bike Rack
If you live in an area where it is currently cold (since this is February) then the issue is that the rubber strap like part # 753-3535 are being difficult to stretch due to the cold. Try heating the rubber straps up a little by taking the bike rack inside the house/garage or taking a blow dryer to them. This will allow them to flex some so that you can get them to attach to your bike rack. If you are in a warmer area then the same concept can be applied but it is a little less likely....
