Video Transcript for Thule Hitch Bike Racks 753-3535 Review

Today we're going to review part number 753-35-35. This is the Thule Replacement Rubber Strap for the Thule Bike Racks that use the T3 Cradles. Now this strap is used to hold down your bike to the bike rack cradle. This rubber strap replaces a lost or damaged strapped on your Thule Bike Carrier that uses the T3 Cradles. You can see on this one end of the strap it does have a hard plastic attachment to it. Now the Bottle Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles are the Thule Ridgeline, The Roadway, The Revolver, and the Spare-Me Bike Racks.

This part in quantity is for one strap. If you notice it has the six holes right here, the round holes, and the measurement on those holes center to center is 1 inch. Total length, let's see if I can get you a total length on this from the very tip to the very tip. It's going to be right at 10-1/2 inches. The diameter of the smaller holes are 1/2-inch and this one big large on the end is about 1-1/2 inches. That should do it for the review on part number 753-35-35.

This is the Thule replacement Rubber Strap for Thule Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles.

Thule no longer makes the same type of cradle and strap for my bike carrier and this model is the recommended replacement. The cradle is a very tight fit and I don't think that it will be as easy to adjust as the original part. The strap seems fine and if it breaks I can replace the strap separately unlike the original part. I looked for this on Amazon, eBay, and the other usual suspects and e-trailer had the best combination of price & shipping. 188503

I ordered the replacement rubber straps for our Thule bike rack that is mounted on the back of our Jeep Liberty. My husband replaced the old worn straps with the new ones in no time at all and was extremely pleased with the replacement straps. 426820

We bought some replacement rubber straps for a THULE bike rack and a THULE cable lock. The rubber straps had deteriorated in the sun, and the original lock cable never had a retraction spring, so it got damaged because it wasn't stowed properly. The new straps were a bit of a pain to install - but this was because of the rack’s anti theft features and rusty fasteners. The cable was easy to install, and the addition of a retraction spring was very welcomed. All is well, and the parts are doing what they’re supposed to do. I'm very happy eTrailer carried these parts - I'm not sure I could have easily gotten them from the place we bought the rack. 335313

Replaced my inexpensive bike rack cradles with the Thule cradles and straps and am really happy. They are much stronger and easier to strap in the bike than the Velcro straps that came with the carrier. The rack is 1" tubing and it fits fine. 640068

Straps fit perfectly and were reasonably priced. Hard to install but this is a design problem from Thule. Glad your company makes these parts available. Thanks 100162

Installed the spare parts today. Excellent results. I had an old Bell Bike Rack with broken clips and replaced them with these. Perfect fit, a very nice upgrade. You definitely have to use soap to get them on the bar (unless you're a masochist). 94597

All the original rubber straps on my Thule Expressway 995 bike rack broke or were about to break. Plus they always slid downhill towards the front of the vehicle while driving. Those parts unfortunately are no longer made and have been replaced by the 753-3535 and 8535829 straps and cradles. I ordered these parts and they came in a timely manner. I had to drill out the pop rivet for the locking cable on the rack (no big deal - high security!) and everything came apart easy. I had to use a paper towel with a little bit of dish detergent and rub it on the rack pipes as the new parts fit very tight - watch the video on this. However, since they are tight, the bikes no longer move around while driving - Hooray! Put a pop rivet back in for theft prevention, at least the dirt bag would need more than a Phillips screwdriver to get the locking cable off. Overall a great product & service. 549244

I was bringing a bike back from Ft Myers FL to Mechanicsburg, PA. One of the straps on my Thule bike rack broke and the other was frayed and close to breaking. I think it was the Florida sun! It was a 2 bike rack so I was able to secure the bike with some additional rope. I started searching for replacement straps, starting with another online retailer. A few other suppliers popped up including etrailer. etrailer had the best price plus the least expensive shipping charge. I purchased 2 replacement straps and 2 spares. The straps were delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Overall experience was positive. 511624

The strap replaced my old one perfectly. Images were very helpful to order the right rubber strap. I was very satisfied with the process: ordering, sending, and delivering in a timely manner. I was especially impressed with the handling and shipping cost--it was very reasonable, unlike some vendors that exhibit a low price and then they charge you a huge amount for shipping. I do recommend to buy from etrailer, if they have the product you are looking for. 489877

The strap that will work with this cradle is part # 753-3535. We have another option for you. If you measure the hole size and the distance between the holes we may have a strap that will work...

  • How to Install the Thule Replacement Strap 753-3535 for Hanging Bike Racks
  • Installation of the T3 cradle replacement strap is pretty straight forward. You will need to remove the end cap from the end of the bike support arm, a Phillips screw typically holds the cap in place. Next use a small amount of soap and water to help the cradles, # 853-5829, slide off easily. Once you have the cradles off installation is just the reverse, orient the strap, cradle and anti sway bracket, if needed, together and then slide them on to the correct position.
