Today we're going to take a quick look at the replacement cradle set for Yakima Double Down Hitch Mounted Bike Carriers. Now this is going to fit several different versions of the Yakima Double Down, including the Double Down Two, the four, and both of the fives. It's also going to work for the Double Down Ace Two, the Ace Four, and also the Highlight Two and Three in both the silver and white versions.This is going to give you your cradle that goes on the top tube and down tube. It'll be able to fit in there. It is going to be two separate pieces that just match up and go over one of the arms on your bike rack. Then we'll have our second cradle to go on the opposite arm so that we can have both our cradles spanning across our bike rack so we can mount up our bike and hit the trails without any worries about our bike bouncing off.We'll also have this smaller piece.
It's going to go with this smaller cradle, just fits in between those two pieces there. We'll also have our three straps, two for the top, two for the down tube, or one for the down tube to act as our anti-sway cradle. That's going to be this portion here on that larger cradle. This is going to wrap around the down tube of your bike and hold it secure in that cradle.Again, we also are going to get all those pieces for our different Yakima bike racks. Yakima bighorn. 2012 model. Apparently they are no longer in production and the cradles aren't available anymore. It's a 1-1/4 diameter tube. These fit perfectly.

I originally ordered a different brand but when it became apparent they weren’t in stock and would not arrive in time for our vacation, Nick helped me change my order to the Yakima cradles and made sure they were shipped out the next day. Nick was extremely helpful and even gave me his personal phone # to call in case I had any problems. The cradles fit my old X-port rack perfectly , I had used hose clamps to prevent the original cradles from sliding around on the rack but the Yakima cradles seem to lock in place (I kept the hose clamps on just for extra security)

A year later and I am still happy with my purchase. We used the rack with the new cradles and straps extensively during our vacation and have continued using them on a regular basis over the last year. Even during this Coronavirus pandemic the hitch is on our car to use when we need to get out for some fresh air. This is not my 1st purchase from etrailer and I have always been satisfied with the products and service.

Unable to get info I needed about bike rack and possible ways to repair from local stores. They focused on selling new and very expensive replacement units. Found etrilers online and asked for advice on repair. Knowledgeable and responsive. Parts delivered, questions answered. I will definitely make etrailer my go to.

I got the parts I needed. Pretty quick shipping also. The parts were not in stock with the Yakima and it did not look like they were going to get them back. Etrailer seems to have stocked many old parts. My bike rack was not being manufactured any more. Glad they had them.

I searched long and hard for an odd-sized Yakima cradle that is part of a bike carrier that is no longer made by Yakima. This part is really important, since I nearly lost a bicycle recently when I hit some bumps on the freeway and my bicycle nearly fell off the rack. It was held by just one of 2 arms, with the rear tire inches from the ground. If it had made contact with the asphalt, the bike certainly would have flew into the middle of the freeway.
At any rate, I found the part on etrailer.com, and received it in the mail within a few days of ordering.
Awesome website, and I certainly will purchase more parts and supplies from this e-tailer in the future.

the parts fit as needed! and etrailer was most helpful is obtaining rhe correct ones.
While the product didn't fit my bike rack as I had hoped the customer service was above and beyond any I have experienced. I received an immediate confirmation after placing my order on a Sunday evening. I also received multiple (not an overbearing number) emails providing me with status updates. We were able to retrofit the cradles to my bike rack and the product was of high quality but their customer service was EXCELLENT!
E-trailer seems to have all the small, random items that I need for my bike rack, hitches and gear. I ordered some important, and not easy to find tools, and they were at my doorstep in two days! Just in time for my trip! You seem to have everything I need!

The set only comes with 3 straps and 4 are needed. It is a Yakima replacement part so the quality is fine. I just don’t understand why they would short you 1 strap.
