Video Transcript for What to Know About the RoadMaster 4-Wire Connectors

Today we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster 4-Wire Trailer and Vehicle Line Connectors. Now these connectors will help you create your own cord or replace the damaged ends on your Roadmaster, the 4-Wire Straight, and the Flexo-Coil electrical cords with these these four pole male and female connectors. Now one connector will wire to your tow vehicle, and it has the nice finger pull design on it to help you insert it or remove it from the connector. Now the other connector will wire to the vehicle that's being towed. It includes this nice spring loaded cap that'll help cover the connector when it's not in use. So when you go to wire these, this one here, what you'll do is just take your philips screwdriver and loosen that little philips head screw, and you'll be able to pull that socket right out. Run your wire through here, pull it through, make your connections, push that back in, and then put your screw back in there. On this one, it's very similar, what you'll do is there's a little screw right here, unscrew that, and what that'll do is it'll allow the center portion here, the 4-wire portion, it'll fall right out. Once it comes out, same way, run your wire out through the back here, pull it through, make your connections, push that back in to where the hole lines up, and then screw it right into place.

Then with all your connections made you can just pull open the cap, take this, line it up, and it'll push right in and make your connection. Also, this cap has a little notch in it you can see that'll lock it into place, and then when you go to remove it, just lift up on the cap, and you'll able to pull it right out. Simple as that. That should do it for the review on the Roadmaster 4-Wire Trailer and Vehicle Line Connectors.

I periodically pull a 12v pressure sprayer behind my lawn tractor. The 12v harness I originally made that clipped to the tractor battery was always cumbersome and became hazardous when it recently shorted out due to rubbing (and no fuse in line). So I finally took the time to do it right, mounted this connector to the rear next to the taillight, and created a hidden fused permanent harness to the battery, and of course utilized the mating connector for the sprayer harness side. This little connector was perfect, high quality materials (connector body and electrical terminals), high spring force on the cover when not in use, nice sealed design yet easy to plug/unplug. Very happy with this purchase and will likely buy it again.

Replacing the exact same item on a 2000 Polaris Sportsman that is used for charging the battery. Very solid, very durable, well made, good quality plug and socket. Buy with confidence.

by:

So far ,so good. I haven't finished installing the plugs but everything is going well. Because the wiring is under a finished trailer, I have to work under the frame. It will take awhile.

Easy online ordering. Shipping great. Time will tell about the quality. Connector seems a bit on the fragile side.

  • Converting 4-Way Round Female To 4-Way Round Male Connector
To adapter in order to be able to convert a 4-way round female connector to a 4-way round male connector is by using the RoadMaster 4-Wire Connectors, part # RM-910030-4. This has both the female, and the male plugs separate. You would need to run the appropriate wires into the rear of each connector using wire like part # DW04923-1. This is jacketed 4-wire and is 14 gauge. This is sold by the foot. When wiring connectors, I recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to make...

  • 4-Pole Round Pin Trailer & Vehicle Connectors to Allow Conversion from 4-Pole Flat Connectors
We offer trailer connectors, sockets and plugs in many connector formats that you can view in the linked article on trailer wiring. We also have a kit with both, part # RM-910030-4 from Roadmaster. You'll want to be sure to wire the new connectors based on each wire's function, not by its wiring insulation color as this is not always consistent.
