This hitch has the muscle for serious towing. It’s rated at 21,000 lbs gross towing weight and 4,000 lbs vertical load limit, giving you the strength and stability to pull large fifth wheels with confidence. The heavy-duty steel construction and rust-resistant black powder coat finish make it solid and dependable for long hauls over rough roads.
The single-piece wraparound jaw fully surrounds the king pin for 360-degree contact, keeping movement to a minimum and reducing chucking. A 3/4" thick solid steel locking bar adds another layer of protection by reinforcing the connection once the jaw closes. The bar automatically locks into place, so when you hear it snap shut, you know the trailer is secure and ready to roll.
The double-pivot head moves front to back and side to side, allowing it to follow the trailer’s motion naturally. Polyurethane dampeners inside the head absorb road shock and cut down on noise so you can enjoy a quiet, steady ride. Hookups are easier too since the head pivots automatically into position when it meets the pin box.
This hitch is designed with a simple 2-piece build that makes installation and removal quick and easy. Attach the base to the included industry-standard base rails, drop in the head assembly, choose from three height settings—15-1/2", 17-1/4", or 18"—and secure it with the included pin. The lightweight modular layout means you can handle each part without special equipment when it’s time to clear your bed or make adjustments.

Today we're going to take a look at the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Custom Mounting Brackets for the 5th Wheel above-bed base rails. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2013 and newer Dodge Ram and Ram 3500 Series trucks with either the 6-foot bed or the 8-foot bed without the factory rail kit. Now on any custom fit part, I always like to recommend to go to our website, use our fit guide. Put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now these installation brackets will mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for you 5th wheel rails to attach to. Now the base rails we do sell separately on our website.
It's part number DM6071. The rails is what will sit in your truck bed and allow the installation of the 5th wheel trailer hitch to your truck bed. Now these are custom fit brackets. They're designed to mount to the frame using existing holes in your vehicle's frame. Because of that it will help minimize the drilling use, helps reduce installation time and it's also designed to avoid known obstacles along your specific vehicle's frame. All these parts are a sturdy steel construction. Have a nice black powder coat finish to them to help resist corrosion.

The DEMCO above bed rail kit was installed by an RV dealer and even they said it was one of the best kits theyd seen even though it was harder to install, it was a much better kit. So far not a single complaint after towing a 32 fifth wheel trailer about 2K miles. Im starting a 8K mile trip in July and will have a better idea about the kits quality after returning.

I really liked the hitch as it was light and easy to use. I have purchased a new truck and needed a slider as it is a short bed. I purchased the rail kit from etrailer and as always it a superior product.

The Recon is designed to work with industry standard rails however we have seen rails that were not installed correctly in the bed or shifted so that it is throwing off the hole positioning as the rails are independent of each other. I would recommend measuring the rails to ensure that the front to back measurement is 29 inches and the side to side measurement is 22 inches.

Worked great. However after being shocked by high fuel prices and a couple of trips we sold 5th wheel and down sized to a TT, You want to buy a slightly used Demco Hitch?

This Demco 21K fifth wheel hitch is a great piece of equipment. I have pulled my 40 Heartland Bighorn fifth wheel as far north and west as Wisconsin and south and east as Florida. It has performed like I thought it should and beyond. I am sure glad that I chose the Recon over any of the more expensive brands. Its a real performer and it looks pretty cool too!
