What is the Difference Between Trunnion and Round Bar Weight Distribution Systems

Question:

can you please explain the benefits of trunnion vs round

Helpful Expert Reply:

The round or trunnion bars refers to the end of the spring bars. Round bars are typically designed for lighter applications, are a bit harder to install and are usually priced lower than trunnion bars. Trunnion bars are typically designed to be used with heavier weight applications, and easier to install than round bars.

Trunnion bars typically offer more ground clearance as well.

I attached an FAQ article on weight distribution for you to check out.

I currently have a Fastway E2 set up, can I purchase just the hitch mount, bar mount and bars separately. And what would those items cost.

You can definitely purchase individual components from the Fastway E2 System. For this 8,000 pound setup we have the Spring Bar # FA92-02-0899, Shank # FA92-02-4100, and Head # FA92-02-1255 all available separately. Pricing will be located on the product pages but you really might be better off just going with a whole new system, as it's going to end up right at, if not over, the full price.

Hi Jameson, I have a 2024 Jayco Jay feather 380 QDS. I have the Trailer Life Trunnion Sway Control hitch 1000lb Tongue and 10000lb max trailer weight sway bars. My question is can and or should I back up with my sway bars attached? Blessings, Fannie

@Fannie Only if you are basically only going to back up in a straight line. If you are going to turn sharply the bars would need to come off.
