Availability of Replacement Round Magnet for Old Hayes 10 x 2-1/4 Brake Assembly
Question:
Hello there, I am looking to replace my trailers electric brake magnets. It is an older set of axles, mid 80s it appears. The drums are 10 and the magnets that are currently on it are circular and 2 in diameter, and about 3/4 thick. I have pictures of the assembly as well as the individual parts. I believe these are old 3500lb axles with 10 electric brakes. If you could help me determine the proper magnets and shoes/hardware kits I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Given the round magnet, it sounds like you have old Hayes 10 x 2-1/4 brake assemblies that have been obsolete for several years, so replacement parts aren't available any longer.
Your best bet would be to replace your existing brake assemblies with modern brake assemblies that use parts that are readily available should they need replacing.
Assuming you have 4-bolt brake mounting flanges like what's shown in the provided photo, I'd recommend replacing your existing brake assemblies with a 10 x 2-1/4 inch self-adjusting brake assembly set like part # AKEBRK-35-SA.
I've linked to a product video for the brake assembly kit I recommended.
