Can a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder AWD Tow a 16' Tandem Axle Trailer
Question:
I'm looking at a cargo/toy trailer 16' dual axle unit and is 1500 lbs. with gross 2990 gross. It's an all alu/unit and has a tongue weight of 260lbs. MY 2017 Pathfinder AWD has a 5000lbs towing rating. The book states 6000 lbs. and that number is too much for 284hp/vehicle that has Curb weight is 4307 and gross weight is 5985 lbs. So, my questions, this cargo camper dual axle trailer, do I need Elec/brakes? The dealer said I didn't, since it's under 3500 lbs. and it has 13" wheels and low to road.

Your Pathfinder will tow the trailer just fine. If you find later on that you would feel more comfortable towing with brakes on the trailer, you can always add them. With the weight capacities that your vehicle can handle you will be fine on weight.
If you experience sway while towing your trailer you could add a weight distribution system # FA92-00-0600 to help reduce sway.
