Installing the gears is fairly easy, You will need to remove the cap at the top of the jack. The handle and gear are held in place with a roll pin that will need to be removed. You can then remove the handle, square block and gear.
You can then remove the bottom gear by lifting it out. If the bottom roll pin is damaged remove it also and the washer can be replaced after removing the lower pin. I added a photo showing the inside of a Bulldog jack with an external gear box, like part # BD155157, so you could easily see the orientation of parts. If you have a jack with internal gears, like part # BD151109, you will have to work from the opening in the top of the jack.
When replacing the bottom gear on the roll pin be sure to use the shorter pin and that the pin is in the slotted portion of the gear with the closed end groove that will not allow the pin to come out of the side of the gear, see photo. Reassemble in reverse order.
The top gear and bottom gear are the same, you just need to orient the gears correctly with the roll pins.
