From the day we picked up trailer brakes have never worked properly, When you push the brake controller on, at 15 mph the trailer barley slows down, have had it checked out and RV mechanic said everything is working, Ive adjusted brakes, still not much power, Im to the point of just replacing full brake assembly and starting over. We use trailer quit often and missed warranty time frame. What would be the best route for brakes? Is it necessary to have drums turned when replacing brakes? Trailer is towed with 2014 F250 w/ stock controller.

If the drums look like they are in good shape you don't have to turn them when replacing the assemblies. Take a look at the inside of the drum and if you don't see any grooving or obvious signs of wear they don't have to be replaced. Typically if the brakes are adjusted properly and they are still acting weak the issue that the wiring isn't a heavy enough gauge to provide all of the amperage that is needed. You'll want the brake output circuit to be 10 gauge like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) from the trailer connector to the brake assembly wires. I'd check that first and from there we can see if there's anything else that might help.
