2012 Ford F-150 with Factory Came with Fuse and Relay Labeled AL3T-15A416-AA
Question:
Just got a 2012 F150 with OEM tow pkg. Found a package with a fuse and relay in the door pocket with AL3T-15A416-AA label. Was told it was for the tow pkg but dont know if I should install them or not??

Normally, a factory tow package will be fully functional from the factory when you buy the truck. But in some cases, a tow package can be added very easily (by plugging in a 7-Way and adding some relays/fuses) that they can provide the parts at the dealer. It sounds like your truck may fall under the second category.
To be sure, all you have to do is use the owner's manual to find the proper locations of the fuses/relays related to the tow package, and insert the ones you found (if needed, they may be spares). You can then test your trailer connector with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to make sure all of the functions work.

the relay and fuse are for the Max Tow package. relay goes in slot 9 fuse goes in slot 21 of the fuse box located in the front of the engine compartment. this supplies power to the trailers electric over hydraulic braking system and causes the manual control on the dash to come alive.. it was painful to get this information out of Ford and came from another owner.
