Recommended Weight Distribution System with Sway Control for Grand Design Imagine 2400BH
Question:
Hello, I am towing a Grand Design Imagine 2400bh. Dry weight 5500 lbs with a max weight of 6500 lbs or so. Tongue weight empty is 505 lbs. Ive added 4 6volt batteries, two 30lb LP tanks to the tongue. My towing vehicle is a 2016 Ford F-150 Larriat short box with 3.5 L ecoboost. I currently use a round bar E2 weight distribution hitch system. Would you recommend a better set up? Or is this sufficient?

A full 30lb propane tank weights approximately 55 lbs, so when you add two of them and four 6V batteries at an estimated 60 lbs each that definitely adds to your tongue weight. I estimate you've added 350 lbs to your tongue weight. You also need to account for any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle when determining the total tongue weight for a WD system.
If you have the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # FA92-00-1000 you will be all set. If your current system is smaller then I recommend upgrading to the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 12K GTW, 1.2K TW # RP66560 which is rated for total tongue weights between 600 and 1,200 lbs. This system will be a better option for you and has integrated friction pads to help control sway versus the metal on metal option you currently have. You will need a hitch ball like # 19286 with this system.
If you want the very best sway control, I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control # RP66084. This will use the same hitch ball but is a little more difficult to fit on a frame loaded with other components.
I've attached some videos to assist.
