Question:
I have an equipment trailer with 2 Dexter axles, currently it uses 14.5inch wheels that bolt on in similar fashion to those on a mobile home. What hubs or kit can I use to convert these axles to regular wheels? One axle has brakes, the other does not. They both use the same bearings, Outer bearing is LM67048. Inner bearing is 25580. The seal is National 440972. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the information on your trailer. For your axle with brakes I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb and 6,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12" - 6 on 5-1/2 # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K if you have the spindles with the integrated grease zerk. If you have standard spindles, I recommend # AKHD-655-6-K which have the standard grease cap instead. These assemblies will fit perfectly with your axles based on the bearing and seal information you gave as well as 14.5 inch wheels.
Then for your Idler hubs on your other axle, I recommend the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 6,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K or the standard spindle hub # AKIHUB-655-6-K.
If you want the Dexter brand, I recommend # 8-201-51UC3-EZ or # 8-201-51UC3 for the braking axle and then # 8-213-51UC1-EZ or # 8-213-51UC1 for the idler axle. For these Dexter hub options the galvanized finish is all that is available for 14.5 inch wheel compatibility.
For compatible wheels and tires, you will need to move to a 15 inch wheel, since the 14.5's are not available. By going to the 15" tires, you will have other options for tires with higher speed ratings. For that, I recommend the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - Load Range E # LHAW124 which is rated for speeds up to 75 mph versus the 65 mph rating of the 14.5 inch options.

I also have a car hauler that has mobile home axles under it. All 4 wheels have brakes on them. My bearing #s are also LM67048 & 25580 like the guy above. And my Races are 25520 and LM67010. And Im assuming my seal is the same as his, I couldnt find a #. So from what im reading, you are recommending the AKHD-655-6-K for me since both axles have brakes. I do have a question though....will this work with my existing backing plate w/brakes, or will I need to buy a different one. Im hoping that this hub will fit right over it and I wont have to change out anything else. Thanks for your time-
Chris R.
