Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Today we're gonna take a look at this Americana 14 inch by 5 1/2 inch AM03 series matte black machined aluminum trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rustproof. And as we mentioned, this is the AM03 series wheel, which you can see is an open five spoke design in a black finish with a machine silver face on the spokes edges provides a nice, bold, sleek look. The black finish, if you notice it is a matte black finish, has a clear coating on the front and even on the back of the wheel to help protect the finish.
The diameter on the wheel itself, we're gonna measure it. If you measure the diameter is always measured inside the inside, and this is 14 inches. So if we take our tape measure, and you can see if we go across inside the inside's 14 inch diameter, the width on the wheel is gonna be the same way. It's bead seat to bead seat, or inside to inside. So again, five and a half inches on the width.
Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure your bolt pattern on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five, the holes don't actually line up across from each other. So what you'll have to do is pick either one of these holes. So let's say we pick this one and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes that are right across from it. But the trick is when you measure, it's from the center of the starting wheel to the furthest edge of the wheel that you go, or the hole that you go to.
So when you measure that on this wheel, it'll be 4 1/2 inches. So that's a 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. The wheel lug size, this uses is 1/2 inch by 20. The weight capacity on this wheel is 2,200 pounds. Now one of the nice features I like about this wheel is in the lug nut wells right here.
If you notice, they use steel inserts in the lug nut wells, and that's a nice feature 'cause it helps keep the wheel securely in place on the hub when you tighten your lugs down, prevents the holes from elongating or wearing down, and it eliminate the need for constant tightening of your lug nuts. If you notice the center cap is not included. If you do want those, we sell those separately on a website. When you did a center cap, you wanna make sure to get the correct cap that has the correct diameter to fit this pilot hole. Pilot hole on this wheel is 3.19 inches. This wheel does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications and the SAE J 25 30 standard. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Americana 14 inch by 5 1/2 inch AM03 series matte black machined aluminum trailer wheel.
