Troubleshooting SMI DUO Braking System that Doesn't Work with Tow Bar Wiring that's Wired Wrong
Question:
Currently have the SMI brake Duo staynplay installed on Jeep Liberty Toad. When plugged into E450 Motorhome, the brake in the Liberty activates both in braking mode and turn signal mode. How can I correct This? The tailights on the Liberty also work incorrectly. The turn signals will not flash from right to left. Instead, they both flash, as if in emergency flash mode. I have tested the motorhome plug wires. They do not operate per standard color coding. The emrgency flasher and brake current are in conjunction brown/red wires. The left signal activates the red wire The right signal activates the brown wire. The running light is activated by the green wire. There is a yellow and blue wire that dont seem to do anything. The black wire produces steady current while engine is running.

First you need to get the wiring issues you have sorted out and then most likely the DUO will start working like it should.
Without knowing what type of connector your tow vehicle is using the best option I have is for you to check out the help article I attached below where you can see all of the standard wiring diagrams that you'll need to make sure your wiring matches.
Let me know what you have and whether your connectors are wired properly.
