Bike Rack for a 2006 BMW 3 Series Convertible
Question:
Plan on using trailer hitch only for a Bike Rack. Having said that will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11174, although not confirmed, will it fit a 2006 BMW 3 Series convertible.

I have a potential solution for you, but unfortunately, there is no trailer hitch compatible with the 2006 BMW 3 Series convertibles. The lack of a solid roof actually reduces the structural stability of the vehicle, making it unable to use a hitch. I do not recommend installing a hitch that has not been expressly fit to your vehicle, as it risks damage to your frame.
Instead, I recommend using a trunk-mounted rack. These will mount to the rear of the vehicle and provide an easy to use and install mount for your bikes. Specifically, I recommend Thule's Gateway Pro, part # TH88VR. This two-bike trunk rack includes anti-sway cradles and a quick-fit hub to easily fit to your vehicle.
This rack doesn't include a security feature, so I recommend adding a cable lock like part # e98891 to secure the bikes to the rack. Thule also makes a security strap, part # TH533, for the rack, which will set inside the rear cover hatch and connect the rack to the car an additional time, helping to deter theft.
