Recommended Axle with Hubs and Wheel/Tires for Old Trailer
Question:
Having a hard time finding wheels for an older trailer. 8” rims 5 lug with 3-1/4” center hole. Can you help? I’m also open to updating the axles and hubs 60” hub face with 49” spring center.

The pilot hole size is what makes the wheels difficult to match. We have a few options for 5 lug wheels but they all have the 2.81 inch pilot hole in the center.
I recommend changing out your axle as you stated to the Dexter Idler Trailer Axle w/ Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 60" Long - 2,200 lbs # 20545I-EZ-60-10. This has 48 inch on center spring seats. It also has the hub assemblies and spindles with the EZ-Lube for easy maintenance. Then I recommend the Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM3H310. These combination wheel/tire are rated for 935 lbs each or axle weight of 1870 lbs.
If you want a higher capacity to better utilize your axle capacity, I recommend # AM3H323 which are rated for 1165 lbs at 70 psi. This will limit your load capacity to the 2,200 lbs of your axle or that of your leaf spring suspension.
