Replacement Trailer Hub Assembly for Dexter 8-248 Hubs

Question:

Looks like I need the 5 on 4-1/2" hub. Next question. Would the hubs work with the bearing buddy?

The Dexter "8-248" is a hub assembly for 3,500 lb axles that uses an L68149 inner bearing and a L44649 outer bearing. This hub assembly was offered in both 5 on 4-1/2" and 5 on 4-3/4" bolt patterns therefore you would need to confirm your bolt pattern in order to choose the correct hub. I have attached a help article to help you find this as well.

I have also attached my recommendations on each hub for you below.

Dexter:

5 on 4-1/2" - part # 84545BX

5 on 4-3/4" - part # 845475UC1

Yes, the Dexter Trailer Hub part # 84545BX is compatible with Bearing Buddy's. The correct Bearing Buddy's for either hub is the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors part # BB1980A. I have attached a review video of the above Bearing Buddy for you as well.

The studs on the Dexter Idler Hub # 84545BX are just under 2" long with a 1/2" diameter.

I have a Dexter 8-248 hub. Is there a 6 bolt hub that uses same bearings that i can swap to.

We do have a few Dexter hub assemblies that use those bearings and feature a 6 bolt pattern. For example the Dexter # 84656UC3-EZ would work well as a replacement here.
