Brake Pad Clips Not Holding Brake Pads in Caliper Piston

Updated 12/05/2024 | Published 08/02/2016

Question:

I am having trouble with the brake pad staying clipped inside the piston. It does not click in and just falls back out.

It is possible that the clip on the back of the brake pad, such as those on set # K225CP, got a little bent out of shape. You should be able to bend it some so the clip has to compress to fit in the piston. I recently had to do that in a similar situation.

I'm having the same issue. I have the 225 caliper, and in inner pad won't clip in.

@BrianD Have you tried bending the clip at all to see if that allows it to clip in like it needs to?

Can you explain or show how the clip is supposed to fit in the position. All 4 of mine will not clip into the piston.

@BrianD Fastforward to the 2:20 mark of the video I attached below to see how the pad gets removed and then reinstalled.
