I need a class 3 trailer hitch for a 2006 Ford Freestar. It is a 2 wheel drive. Will I need to remove or drop down the exhaust system to install the hitch?

For your 2006 Ford Freestar I recommend going with the Curt # C13587 as we've found that the powder coat finish on the Curt hitches tends to be thicker and hold up better against chips and scratches.
Installation will involve removing the exhaust from the rear most exhaust hanger to gain access to the hitch mounting holes in the frame and you may have to slightly enlarge the frame holes if the hardware doesn't fit, but if you look at the video I have linked to and fast forward to the :25 second mark, you can see how simple this process really is.
