Trailer Hitch Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Sonic - Draw-Tite
Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Sport Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class 1, part number 24876. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. As you can see, it's got a nice black powder-coated finish. Nice large ring style safety chain loops. This is a Class 1 hitch, so it's only going to be able to be used with the Class 1 accessories. This hitch has a 200 pound tongue weight, which is our downward force and a 2000 pound towing weight, which is the amount that we're pulling. Now, you want to check in with your owner's manual or your manufacturer to make sure that your vehicle is able to tow that kind of weight.
Today on this 2015 Chevrolet Sonic we're going to review and install the Draw-Tite Class I 1 1/4 inch Receiver Hitch. Part Number 24878. This is what the hitch looks like when installed on our Sonic. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at it. You can see that the body of the hitch does fit just below the bumper going across like this. It's about 1/2 inch of clearance between the hitch and the bottom of your bumper. This does use an 1 1/4 inch opening right here. It's also using a 1/2 inch hitch pin or your favorite locking pin. On the bottom here is our safety chain loops. This is a conventional loop style suitable for a wide variety of chain hooks that are out there. Receiver opening is, of course, welded up to this gusset right here and goes on to the body of our hitch.

On each side of our receiver tube are our chain hold downs. Pre-drilled going all the way through our receiver tube will be our 1/2" pinhole.
