Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

My order arrived in just 2 days. Package was all there and in good shape. Installed hitch and wiring harness in about 2 hours. Looks and feels good. Will put it to the test tomorrow.

Fast delivery, easy to install. Seems to be durable and of high quality. bought this hitch for my MTN bike rack.

Installed on a Ford Escape. Installation was very easy and assisted by the great step by step video from etrailer. I like this better than the optional factory hitch. This DrawTite hitch is more discreet than the factory hitch and also supports the common 2" draw bars. Just the right height to pull my utility trailer with a zero rise draw bar. Only downside is that it does interfere slightly with the hands free hatch opener.

Ordered on a Tuesday, received it on Thursday of the same week. It needs to be shipped in a better box. I installed the hitch by my self but would not recommend anyone try that. See pictures of the setup I used to help with the install. the pictures make it look easy but no you must get the left side in first. Get some help! You must place the washers as the video shows or you will have trouble with installing the muffler hangers.

After one year my The trailer hitch I bought from etrailer.com Is doing fine. I liked this model because it is up behind the bumper on my 2017 Ford Escape, therefore not visible except for the receiver.

by:
2018 FordEscape

My new Draw Tite hitch fit perfectly, you really need four hands when installing.. it would be a much easier install if yo have access to a car lift as it is a tight fit.. The wiring and installation of hitch went exactly as videos showed.. I wanted to protect back of vehicle in parking lots and that was one of the reasons for putting hitch on this car. Pictures attached. Thank you for your service

Great trailer hitch, super strong, excellent paint quality. Great instructions to install. 4 Star only because the shipping Department did not have nut & bolt kit place in on original order. Waited a extra week.Otherwise customer service was very fast to respond.

2017 Ford Transit T350

I removed a Draw-tite 1 -1/4 inch hitch receiver to install this Draw-tite 2 inch receiver. While the installation designs of both were identical, installation of the actual new 2 inch receiver was difficult! I had to use a hydraulic jack to position the unit to align the holes for the bolts correctly. I am satisfied with the end result but it took several hours work.

by:
2017 FordEscape

The videos were perfect!!! The hitch and wiring kit were exactly what I was looking for and not hard to install. The hitch took me 1hr 45min and the wiring kit was an additional 2hrs. I took my time and did it right.
Not to mention the products I ordered arrived fast and the tracking e-mail for my order was accurate. Thank you. I will definitely order from etrailer.com again.

Received our hitch in a timely manner. The hitch was hanging out of the box and when opened, the hitch looked like it was kicked around the floor before being put in the box with a lot of paint chipped or scraped off. Was offered a small refund/credit to repaint. The install was a bit more difficult than described for an experienced mechanic, about 2 hours with 2 people.

Very good & video was very helpful for instructions. My only request would be a video for putting the wiring harness on.

When a trailer hitch is constructed, softer steel is used in the side plates as opposed to the harder steel used in the crossbar and receiver tube. This allows the hitch to flex along with the vehicle to a certain degree. This flexibility can also allow the hitch to get slightly bent out of position during shipping and handling. The good news is that its very easy to fix this if you know a few tricks as shown in the linked article.

I'm sure it will work out great just like the rest of the reviews, but wanted to mention.

Packaging was poor. Not properly wrapped or even wrapped when shipped. Came with paint chips missing that will rust in the future in my area.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you as soon as possible. What I recommend is touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum. It will help protect hitch now and in the future.

Very nice quality! Great price.Tight fit for bolts slots for muffler bracket on driver side. Ups delivered with hitch popping out of box. Looks great on vehicle. Only see reciever tube. Took longer than 40 minutes. Mostly because of muffler bracket tight alignment and waiting for my second person to help assist lifting. Great company will defiantly by from again in future. Thank's Mike

Still working great!

I would have given this product 5 stars but when it arrived some of the paint was chipped off from shipping, other than that the installation instructions was spot on

by:
2017 FordEscape

The hitch was great. I didn't have any trouble putting it on, except i had to drill my extra hole out on my car. The bolt wouldn't go through without drilling. I had a 2014 with the factory hitch and was hit in the rear. The factory hitch folded like a piece of cheese. I think the Draw Tight hitch won't fold and will solve my problem on my new car.

I still like the product. I feel it is better than the production trailer hitch that comes on the car.

initially ordered a hitch competitor and they boched it so bad ,

I ordered from etrailer.com not one issue, I ordered the hitch and great communication through the whole order up to the delivery. Packaging was awesome, if it wasn't for the online videos on installing i would say the written directions are terrible,,,,,,,,

There were most definitely other sites to buy through but the customer service, the detailed instructions and installation videos helped me throughout the entire install. I received my items all in one box and it was quick only a few days. It's does take 2 people and possibly a floor jack (this helps stabilize to line up bolt holes). I've installed several hitches, this is by far the most difficult since you have to line up several holes and get it right. I suggest installing the larger bolts on the bottom then while keeping it loose, lining up the smaller bolts that go through the back. It took me about 3-4 hours for the total install, that includes the wiring. So about 2.5-3.5 hours. If you're laying down on the ground.
I've towed several loads of 1200-1800lbs and this does it no problem. The main gripe I have is the tailgate sensor is slightly blocked, I've trained myself to out my foot in the exact location where it picks up my foot. (Right of the hitch receiver and right exhaust).
The customer service was excellent, they have great communication, instructions and support after my install.

Had my local auto body install. It's been perfect.

2014 FordEscape

I purchased a hitch for my 2014 Ford Escape. I am a repeat customer, previously purchasing a hitch for my 2004 Matrix. The purchasing proceed was quick and easy.

The hitch arrived in about a week with all the hardware and instructions (though I had reviewed them online several times). I finally took the time today to do the installation. The installation was straight forward, I was surprised how little filing was needed to modify the access holes.

I had to do the installation alone (using jacks and jack stands), but I would recommend a helper like the instructions said. I just couldn't get the front exhaust hanger off so I installed the hitch with it on. It was a little tighter but still doable.

The fish wires worked really well...pretty slick setup.

I have a couple suggestions:

The 3 washers that go between the hitch and the bracket are tough to get in that tight space. I taped them together and used a piece of the cut heat shield to hold them while I installed the bolt. Perhaps an opportunity to develop something like the fish wires.

I mentioned the difficulty with the front exhaust hanger. I did find a video on the etrailer site. It gave some good ideas, but you couldn't see what the tech was actually doing. Perhaps a redo with some close ups of the hanger.

If I get another vehicle and need a hitch, I will definitely get it from etrailer.

by:

Product allowed me to use trailer hitch on the intended vehicle. Mounting was straight forward and all materials for installation were provided. I performed the installation by myself with some difficulty due to the weight of the hitch but onec one side was loosely fastened the remainder of install went well. Major difficulties was in working hitch in and over the lowered exhaust piping and muffler.

by:
2015 FordEscape

This hitch fits my 2015 Ford Escape perfectly. I installed it myself and used a floor jack to lift the hitch into place. This is the lighter duty one for this vehicle and it looks great installed. Tucks up under the bumper real nice. I use this for hitch mounted bike racks but have not towed anything yet. But I know it would if I had too.

by:

Fit like a glove, the vids help alot with in install. Its a beast to install so have your drinking buddy handy!

by:

Istalled on a 2018 Ford Escape. Was worried if the hitch would block the foot activated hatch but it does not and the hatch opens just fine.

by:
2014 FordEscape

Ordering the products I wanted, was easy. Their web page was simple to navigate, with almost more description then needed. Their prices were great, and my products shipped fast. I did watch there installation videos before installing my hitch and wiring harness. Using what I saw in the videos made a complicated job, so simple. If you need a hitch or wiring for your vehicle, there is no excuse to go anywhere else, etrailer is the best in my book!

by:
2014 FordEscape

Like some other reviewers, the shipping box was not in the best shape, a few holes and therefore scratches on the hitch, but I figure it's going to get scratched going down the road so no biggie. Installation was not quite as easy as the video made it out to be. For some reason on my vehicle one of the last bolts that required 3 spacer nuts had a much larger gap than was described. It was close to an inch, nothing 3 small nuts would do any good on. All the other bolts lined up perfectly though. It is fairly difficult to get into position even with two people and the vehicle on ramps. I would estimate a few more hours for installation than described on this site. In the end it looks nice and was more affordable than having it installed by a mechanic. Now to go get a trailer!

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Ford Escape (All Models)
The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2017 Ford Escape (All Models) is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75782 which is a direct bolt-on fit with no drilling required. I like the Draw-Tite hitch as it works with the hands free lift gate feature (if equipped) and it has an integrated trailer connector mounting bracket along with a hidden design for the best look overall.
