So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

Won't be sorry, thanks

by:

Will make the installation of the trans cooler easier

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

by:

These fittings made connecting the hoses to the steel transmission lines very easy - glad I bought them! I recommend getting them.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

  • Which Transmission Line of 2004 Chevy Blazer to Install Transmission Cooler On
On your 2004 Chevy Blazer the upper connection is from the trans, (hot). The lower connection goes back to the trans, (cooled). The lower line is the return line and the one you want to install a cooler on. For a transmission cooler the Derale part # D13503 would be a fantastic option. It measure 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep and is a plate fin style cooler which is very efficient. The correct adapter fitting you'll want to use is the part # D13018. This threads into the radiator...

  • How are the Derale Adapter Fittings # D13018 Installed and Used to Install a Transmission Cooler
The male end of the Derale Radiator Adapter part # D13018 that you referenced does thread into the outlet side of the factory cooler in your radiator. The female side of this adapter would thread onto the male side of the coolant line that you removed from the factory cooler. I realize that's probably hard to visualize so I attached a diagram that shows how both sides of the adapter are used. I also attached an FAQ article on transmission coolers, plus a video of one being installed....

  • Can a Supplemental Transmission Cooler be Used to Bypass Factory Cooler on 1996 Chevy K1500
A lot of people want to bypass the factory transmission coolers located inside the radiator. It is permissible to do so provided that the cooler is efficient enough. For this we recommend either going with the largest cooler that will fit in the engine compartment or the most efficient design. The most efficient design is a stacked plate such as # D13403. If you want to go with a plate fin design you can use # D13614. These are both rated as Class V which is the highest available. Another...

  • Should 2007 GMC Sierra Classic be Put in 4WD When Towing a Heavy Load Long Distance
I checked out the online version of the owner's manual and it looks like for your 2007 GMC Sierra Classic then you want to use the Tow/Haul mode for heavy towing and/or shift the transmission to 3rd or lower if it is shifting too often. Aside from that though it doesn't state anything about 4WD so I wouldn't worry about it. You may consider adding a transmission cooler like the Derale # D13502 to help keep your transmission from overheating and making your engine work harder. If you have...

For your 2011 Chevrolet Express Van 1500, I recommend going with the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503 along with the Radiator Adapter Fitting # D13018. The fitting will allow you to quickly and easily install the transmission cooler without having to cut or flare the lines. This transmission cooler measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall and 7/8 inches deep. This is a great plate-fin cooler that will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. When...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500
For your 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 I would recommend the larger transmission cooler part # D13504 as basically the larger the cooler you have the better, and your truck would have room for it's size of 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep. For a fitting that would allow you to install the cooler without having to cut or flare any lines you would want the part # D13018. Keeping the transmission fluid cool is the greatest way to prolong the life of the transmission as heat is a transmission's worst enemy.

This product measures 15-1/4 inches Wide x 10 inches tall x 3/4 deep. Transmission coolers are not too hard to install. I have installed a couple of them and they were not too bad at all. I took a look at the owner's manual for your 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 and was unable to find any information concerning specific grades of hills and there isn't any type of specific formula that is used which has this information. If you are pulling a trailer under the towing capacities of your 2008 GMC Sierra 1500, the engine temperature of the truck should not overheat. I would recommend having the vehicle looked over by your GMC dealership. What I would recommend is adding a combination transmission and oil cooler, as well as a cooling fan. I believe you are correct, the Derale Transmission Pan Cooler, # D14204, is designed for GM vehicles with 700R4 and 4L60E transmissions from 1982 to 1999 and we do not list an transmission cooler pan for the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with 4L60 M-30 transmission. I can tell you that the Derale Transmission Cooler Pan, # D14204, fits most 1982-1999 model 4L60Es transmissions. Some models may require a smaller transmission filter to get it to fit. It will not fit on all models. The overall depth of the pan is 3-5/8 inches and the distance to the the 5/8 inch diameter cooling tubes is 2-1/2 inches from the top of the pan. As long as you have at least 17" wide x 12-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep of space to mount the cooler behind your grille and in front of your radiator/condenser then it will work well for you. You cannot over cool a transmission. The ideal install location would be in front of the radiator and A/C condenser, right behind the grille. One to use on the radiator to get the line to the transmission cooler and then the other one to attach back to the disconnected transmission cooler line that was removed.
