Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Access Ramp for Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack

Our access ramp is gonna make it a lot easier to load up our bike on our NV. You can see you can just easily roll it into place without having to struggle or strain. Normally whenever you go to load up your bike, you have to lift it into place. If you've got a heavy mountain bike, that can just be a little bit more of a strain than you'd like to have. If you've got something even heavier, like a fat tire bike or one of those downhill racing bikes, those can be even more of a strain on your back. Our kits gonna come with our ramp and then an adapter to fit over our NV on the end. Getting it in place is pretty easy, once we have that adapter in place, we'll just affix those two ends onto that adapter.

Then just adjust it out to whatever angle works for you and roll your bike into place. Removing it's just as easy. You can just slide it back together, take it off, and then tighten down the knobs. It's made of a durable metal construction with a nice black powder coat finish so it'll match your NV, if you have the all black one, but black goes with everything so whatever finish you have it'll work.It can handle up to 60 pounds for your bikes so if you've got a cruiser, mountain bike, fat tire bike, this should be able to handle just about anything. The inside width, at the top, is about four inches. Overall it's about 4 1/4. That'll be plenty of space for those wider tires, like your fat bikes.

As far as our depth, it's gonna be about 1 1/2 inches. It's compact enough that you can easily fit it in the back of your vehicle. Then get back to riding. The bracket really isn't gonna change the overall look of your bike rack. It's not gonna interfere with the normal use of it. It does come with two brackets so we can get one mounted on either side. We'll go ahead and show you how to do that now.The kit comes with a tool to remove the two bolts, on the end of the tray, on our NV.

We'll just get those teeth in place. I think, overall, this is kind of the downfall of this kit is that this tool's a little bit short there, to really reach inside but you can get the job done. It's just maybe not the best tool. If you've got a star bit, that'll match that, might be a better option to go with but it is nice that it comes with the tool so you can get it done without having to buy special tools. Now we'll get this one going the rest of the way. Then you'll remove that cap, pull it out.

This'll pop out, don't be alarmed, that's supposed to happen. Then we can just match up our new plate, get our magnet to go back inside our rack, matching it up. Then we'll just mount everything back in place. Nothing too difficult. Just gotta get those bolts threaded back in.With both our adapters in place we can load up both bikes. Now, as far as my overall impression for our access ramp. I think it's a really handy tool to have as an add-on to your NV. My concerns would be that there's a little bit of flex, especially when you have this extended all the way out. That's a little bit concerning but it did the job. Our fat tire bike's pretty heavy and it was able to handle that. I think for your e-bikes, fat bikes, it's gonna be really nice. Especially after you get off the trail and you just don't want to have to work that hard to get your bikes onto your NV rack. This is gonna make is a lot easier so you don't have to struggle as much.

Great

The rack was fairly easy to put together. The nut that was on the taped on bolt was missing, but I found it in the packaging. I also bought the ramp which looks handy. Looks like very good quality and we are looking forward to using it for years to come.

Hey Bob! Have you used the ramp? If not, when is your first ride?

by:

Ordered this kuat bike ramp and shipped the same day. You cannot get better than that.was only asking if it is available and it was, ordered and shipped the same day. Lori was exceptional.thank you very much.

by:

The rack looks great as well as functional for two fat bikes. Have not taken them out yet but expect it to work fine. Will update later. You will also need to have an additional extender as well as security strap as they only shipped one.

by:

Makes it so much easier to load eBikes!

by:

Installation was easy to due per the instructions. The ramp operates beautifully. Definitely a great asset when loading the ebikes.

I am a petite person who needed a bike rack for a heavy bike. The first rack I ordered did NOT work for me. etrailer worked out a return and I was able to purchase a Kuat NV 2.0, with a ramp. We had some trouble assembling the rack, but found etrailer prompt and courteous when responding to our request for help. The ramp was really well packed; all parts included. When in the process of ordering, I found the etrailer's site easy to navigate. I was able to check if the rack would work for my model of car. There were lists with suggestions on what products I might need in addition to the basic rack. There were videos which give great info on features, installation, & use. My email questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. Based on the above experience, I have placed another expensive order with etrailer and am counting on the same outstanding customer service [which all vendors would follow their lead!].

Working out well. Get questions about it when people see the ramp. Did end up buying a lighter bike which makes using the rack easier.

by:

While I have not assembled and tried the ramp I do want to comment on the excellent customer service from Ashley and e trailer. This is my 3rd purchase from this company and it is always excellent. I get a live person without 10 prompts. They are knowledgeable, easy to understand. And I am not on permanent-hold. Great experience.

by:

A little tricky to install brackets cause screws very tight on rack but once installed ramp works as intended. Allows single person to roll heavy e-bike on and off the rack

by:

I have an ebike and after riding 60 or 70 mile, just too wore out yo lift the bike up on the carrier. The ramp really works good.

by:

Great product bought from great company. Only issue is the hitch locks cover falls off and seem to freeze up easily. Had to cut one off.

@Steve We're glad it's working well for you. The ramps are a good choice for those who have trouble lifting their bikes up into place...

by:

It does what it is supposed to do. Seems to support the 55 lb bike fine.

by:

A great accessory for dealing with our 50-pound e-bikes. It was quite a tight fit to the rack at first, and therefore hard to put into place, but now that a bit of the paint has scratched off from use over the last year, the ramp fits very well and is still quite stable. It might be somewhat shallow for fat-tire bikes, and our 2 Verve 2+ bikes go up onto the rack easily, though we find it best to have one person in front to maneuver the front tire into its scoop while a second in the back keeps the rear tire in the groove. I can unload my regular bike (a 20+ pound Cannonade) myself without the ramp, but am happy to have the ramp for loading it, but I don't think that the ramp is enough help for me to manage loading or unloading my e-bike solo.

by:

Recently bought 2 e-bikes for my wife and me, each weighing around 55 lbs. Lifting them up and aligning them on my Kuat NV rack was difficult. E-Trailer helped me find this as the right ramp. I have the original NV rack (love it), been using it for many years, and it can support the weight of the new e-bikes. This ramp arrived earlier than E-Trailer estimated (thanks!) and was no problem to install on my rack. I had to make a minor modification to the Inner end pieces of the rack by cutting off 4 little plastic tabs on each after removing them for the installation, in order to make them fit flush with the new rack clips, but the Dremel made short work of that! Reassembled the end pieces, tightened up the security bolts, and tried out the new ramp with the rack on my car: perfect! And makes loading the e-bikes on the Kuat NV rack a million time easier. This has been a great interaction with E-Trailer, and the product (Kuat NV loading ramp) performs flawlessly, even on my original (not 2.0) NV rack.

by:

Had to change my bike carrier that was on order for a month or so due supply problems. Glad I did as I switched and purchased a Kuat in its place. Been using it since last summer and handles two heavy E-Bikes with no problem.

etrailer got my new order for the Kuat completed and into my hands in just about two weeks including shipping to Ohio.

by:

This is an excellent product! the best bike rack out there, in my opinion. I purchased the extra retractable metal ramp to get my e-bike up and rolled across to the front wheel stirrup. Totally solid and good-looking design. Sturdy and built to last; no wobbles and secure lashing for back tire with the front arm snugly positioned over the front wheel. I love it!

by:

Fast delivery. Great videos explaining installation.

by:

The products I bought are fine. The service had an incomprehensible hiccup. I waited 3 months for delivery of a bike rack access ramp that was ready to ship 3 months ago but held onto because you wouldn’t ship without the complimentary multi tool scissors that came with the purchase. Then I was told the scissors were “no longer available” and no apology or offer for replacement. That’s customer service that leaves something to be desired.

by:

We purchased this ramp to use with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Bike Platform Rack because Hollywood does not have a ramp yet. This ramp appeared to be sturdy and the correct size to attach to the loops on the Hollywood rack. With minor adjustments to create an easily removable attachment to the loops it has been working well for out e-bikes.

The transaction with etrailer.com was excellent. I ordered my Kuat NV2.0 Base on the 27th and had it the afternoon of the 31st as promised with free shipping. My only quibble with etrailer's website is it would have been nice to have had a features comparison with other models. I thought the rack I was getting had a built in lock but upon receiving it I now realize I needed the next model up, but that's mostly on me.

I chose the Kuat NV2.0 rack because my wife got a step through e-bike so I needed a platform style hitch mount rack that didn't depend on holding the bike's crossbar or rear tire (the bike has a rack and fenders). I had her try to put her bike into another brand at the shop and it was too heavy for her to lift in. Kuat has a ramp option that we also purchaced.

The rack itself is very sturdy and with the ramp my wife can load her bike by herself. That was a requirement. The rack is heavy and I've yet to see if she can put it on the car herself. One nice feature is a mechanism to keep the rack from rattling in the receiver. It tilts up vertically when not in use and also tilts down to allow the hatch to open. It locks onto the receiver but if you want the bike to lock you need to get the model up from the 'base'. I haven't road tested it yet but the only minor deficiency I see is the front tire is held in it's cradle only by the pressure arm. The back tire has a ratchet strap. The front tire probably should have as well. If the bike's front tire got free of the pressure arm while driving it would get ugly fast. I plan on using my own straps to provide additional securing for the front tire and will use my cable lock for those times I leave the car unattended.

by:

We purchased the KUAT NV 2.0 bike rack to carry our new e-bikes. We quickly discovered that the additional weight of the e-bikes made them cumbersome to load. The rack is simple to use and makes loading the bikes an easy task. If you're going to spend $750+ on the bike rack, spend the extra on the ramp. You won't regret it.

by:

Easy to install and use ramp for loading heavy bikes onto the Kuat rack. The ramp is heavy steel that won't bend under pressure. Also like the adjustability of ramp length to for high (SUV) or low (passenger car) hitch placement. Highly recommend for e-MTBs.

by:

the access ramp was a hard find item but they found it and got it delivered. they kept me informed during the process and i appreciated the service. i would buy from them again - yes indeedy

fantastic. really appreciate all the help - product gets used at least 2 times a week. thank you all

by:

This was out of stock on the Kuat website and I came across etrailer when searching for the ramp. I reached out to customer service for a question and they were prompt and knowledgable. Will not hesitate to order from etrailer again. Customer service is great and the ramp works as intended.
The only thing I was disappointed in is etrailer gives free shipping at $[XX], my ramp was $[XX] and I still had to pay shipping. I know they have to stick to their policy but tax put me over the $[XX] price. Oh well, no worries I will still use them in the future.

by:

The Kuat NV 2.0 ramp works perfectly for loading my wife's heavy e-bike. Simply roll the bike up the ramp, clamp the front tire, and fasten the back wheel. All easily done by one person - no lifting required. And it was very simple to install and only took about 15 minutes

  • 2023 Mercedes-Benz E450 4MATIC Fitment for Carrying a Bike Rack
Hey Andy, thanks for reaching out! The Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH37MR fits older models of a Mercedes-Benz but for your 2023 Mercedes-Benz E450 4MATIC we have the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver# EH55SR which is the EcoHitch version of the Stealth Hitches you're looking at. This is a perfect solution for being able to carry a bike rack around, but it also has that removable hitch receiver for a clean factory look when you aren't hauling bikes around. If you don't...

Other than that though, they are the same. If you aren't worried about the bike stand and or how shiny the rack is, I would save the money and go for the base # BA12B.
