Comparing Kuat Sherpa 2.0 vs Kuat NV Base 2.0 Bike Racks

Question:

Hi all! Can you tell me what the difference are between the Kuat Sherpa and the NV base? it will be going on an early 2000s Chevy Tahoe and carrying two Trek Dual Sport 2. Is the NV base worth the extra cost? Thanks so much!

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22B and NV 2.0 Base # BA22B bike racks are both excellent bike racks but in my opinion the NV 2.0 just edges out the Sherpa 2.0 due to a few key features.

As-is the Sherpa 2.0 can handle 40 lb bikes with a max wheelbase of 47" while the NV 2.0 Base can handle 60 lb bikes with a max wheelbase of 50". Looking past that though you can't do much else with the Sherpa 2.0 but you have the option for a variety of add-ons for the NV 2.0 Base:

Phat Bike Adapter Kit - # APBK
Access Ramp - # ANVBRB
Children's Bike Adapter - # 016-025-00-00 (can also be used for the Sherpa 2.0)
2-Bike Add-On - # BA02B
Trail Doc - # TDKB
