Quiet, Secure Ride

The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

B&W Companion Bushings

In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.

Non-Binding Latch Handle

The dual jaw on the Companion OEM is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.

The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".

Installation of the B&W Companion OEM

To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.

Companion OEM Base Diagram

To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base. The above diagram gives an indication of where to mount the arms so that you get the height and the cab clearance that you need.

B&W Companion OEM Handles OpenB&W Companion OEM Handles Closed

Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.

The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

  • What is the Difference Between the B&W RVK3300 vs RVK3305
I can confirm for you that there is a difference between the # BWRVK3300 and the # BWRVK3305 with the construction of the base of the hitch, which is where you get the difference in capacities between the two hitches. The 3300 is only rated for 20,000-lbs where the 3305 is rated to pull 25,000-lbs. They do look the same, but the difference will be in the construction and stiffness of the base on the two hitches. Both of these hitches are designed to fit in the factory pucks on Ford trucks,...

  • Can Reese Elite Hitch Install on Curt Adapter Rails for More Height on a 2021 Ford F-450 Puck System
Hey Bryan, thanks for reaching out! Your Reese Elite Series Hitch (discontinued part 30143) has a height range of 14-1/2" - 17" and is only able to secure to the OEM puck system on your 2021 Ford F-450 Super Duty, so we either need to get you a taller hitch that mounts directly to the pucks or you can use the Curt Adapter Rails # C88KR with a different hitch to gain more height like what you said. The first option I recommend exploring is the B&W Companion # BWRVK3305 because it installs...

  • Recommended B&W Companion Hitch for a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 W/ Reese Under Bed Pucks
Hey Robert, the B&W Companion # BWRVK3710 and # BWRVK3700 are the exact same thing. The only difference is that # BWRVK3710 fits the 2020-2026 GMC Sierra 2500/3500s, while # BWRVK3700 fits the 2016-2019 GMC Sierra 2500/3500s. So since the Reese # RP30868 is the same thing as the Ford OEM pucks, you're actually going to want to use the B&W # BWRVK3305 instead.

  • What is Best Fifth Wheel Hitch that Fits 2020 Ford F-350 with Factory Rail Kit
The best fifth wheel hitch for the factory rail kit of your 2020 Ford F-350 is the B&W Companion hitch # BWRVK3305 which is made here in the USA. The everyone thinks this is the best option is because of how well it's made, how easy it is to use, and how quiet and smooth the ride quality is when towing with it since the jaws of the hitch hold the king pin very tightly. I attached a review video for more info on the hitch as well.

Yes, you can definitely cut out parts of the BedRug Custom Full Truck Bed Liner so that you have access to the puck system for 5th wheel towing with your 2013 Ford F-350. The correct BedRug for your pickup depends on the following specs for your truck: 8' Bed with Factory Step Gate - # BRQ08LBSGK 8' Bed without Factory Step Gate - # BRQ99LBK 6-3/4' Bed with Factory Step Gate - # BRQ08SBSGK 6-3/4' Bed without Factory Step Gate - # BRQ99SBK Please note that you may need to cut out more...

Congratulations on your new truck! For your 2019 Ford F-350 that is equipped with the factory prep package I highly recommend the B&W OEM Companion 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3305. The Companion series hitches are considered by many to be the best on the market and this particular model is designed to drop right into the factory pucks in your truck bed. The hitch features 1 inch thick dual jaws that provide a 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. What this will do on top of providing an extremely...

  • How to Adjust the Pivot Arms on a B&W Companion
Hey Thomas, congrats on your new trailer. You might have to play around with the different positioning of the pivot arms once you get the trailer home. There's no of knowing exactly what position you'll need without knowing the pin box location, the width of trailer, and the shape of the trailer nose in relation to how tall your truck is. I attached a screenshot from the instructions below. I recommend setting the pivot arms at the highest with the most clearance, top right. This will...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 20219 Ford F-350
Hey Eric, easily the B&W Companion # BWRVK3305 is going to be the best 5th wheel hitch you can get. These hitches are made in the USA, have a 25,000 lb capacity, and will drop right into the OEM pucks on your Ford. If you have regular ISR rails you can use # BWRVK3200 which has only a 16K capacity but its still made by B&W, or you can use the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16180 which has the 25K capacity you're looking for, but it isn't made by B&W.

I think either one could very well be a viable option. I would love to help you with the best 5th wheel hitch for both options but I would need to know the year of the pickup as well as if it has a puck system or not. Please be sure to look at the weight capacity of both vehicles and compare them to the weight of your Arctic Wolf to essure they can tow it properly. • 2022 Ford F-250 OEM or Aftermarket Puck System for 5th Wheel Towing
Great questions! Reese actually makes the OEM puck system for Ford so if the 2022 F-250 is cheaper by a lot then I recommend going that route and installing the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit # RP87FR. The only thing you'll really be missing out on is an in-bed 7-Way socket but that can be added pretty easily if you install a wiring kit like the Bargman # 50-97-410-010. If you don't already have a 5th wheel hitch then I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide, 18K # DM8550024 or 21K...

The B&W Companion 20K part # BWRVK3300 and 25K part # BWRVK3305 5th Wheel Hitches for the 2020 Ford F-450 with OEM Pucks are both great choices and will fit into the puck system of your Ford. The 20K will be sufficient enough to tow the 17,500 lb fifth wheel without any issues but if you plan on purchasing a heavier fifth wheel in the future I recommend to go with the 25K. There are not any disadvantages to using the 25K with the lighter trailer so you don't have to upgrade in the future....

  • Difference Between B&W Companion 20 and 25K Rated 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ford F450 w/ OEM Prep Pkg
Both the B & W Companion 25K # BWRVK3305 and 20K # BWRVK3300 use the same hitch head. The difference between the two is that the 25K hitch uses a stronger beefier leg or base unit and therefore is rated for 5000 more lbs. Either hitch would work well for you (assuming that your 5th wheel weighs less than 20K) and both are fully compatible with the factory tow/prep pucks in your truck bed. If there's a chance you might go with a heavier 5th wheel in the future, you might consider going...

Hi there Steve! Great question the B&W Companion hitches are beefy and solid so it’s smart to know the weight before you start lifting. The part # BWRVK3300, which fits the Ford OEM puck system, weighs around 153 lbs, while the part # BWRVK3305, , comes in a bit heavier at 161 lbs. Hey Ben, thanks for reaching out! The PullRite OEX SuperLite # PUL89ZR is what I recommend over the B&W Companion # BWRVK3305. The Companion has been a staple in the towing industry for a long time, but the OEX has a few key advantages that make it easier to tow with. The first thing is that the OEX weighs in at about half the weight of the Companion so moving it in and out of your truck is MUCH easier. The second thing is the inverted gooseneck hitch ball connection. This looks a little...

  • Will The B&W Companion Fit Ford F350 Factory Pucks?
Hi James! The B&W Companion can definitely fit a Ford F350, but not to the factory gooseneck ball hole. The reason for that is the post on a Companion hitch is square whereas the posts on factory gooseneck balls are round. A round hole would allow the Companion hitch to twist, and that would be very bad. All the bases will fit into the 4 pucks in your bed though.
