How to Adjust the Pivot Arms on a B&W Companion

Updated 09/03/2025 | Published 08/04/2025

Question:

I have a 2017 F250 SWB and I am trying to set up my BandW companion slider RVK3405 in my truck. My question is the veritical and horizontal positioning of the pivot arms. I am installing this to pick up a 2021 Grand Design Reflections 337RLS. How do I determine this positioning?

Hey Thomas, congrats on your new trailer. You might have to play around with the different positioning of the pivot arms once you get the trailer home. There's no of knowing exactly what position you'll need without knowing the pin box location, the width of trailer, and the shape of the trailer nose in relation to how tall your truck is.

I attached a screenshot from the instructions below. I recommend setting the pivot arms at the highest with the most clearance, top right. This will get you home safely and you can make adjustments on your B&W Companion Slider item # BWRVK3400 from there if needed.

Does your F250 have a 7-way hook up in the bed? If it doesn't I recommend adding one with the the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C57008. You'll be able to keep the one on your bumper and it's way easier than draping the 7-way cable over your tailgate.

Hey Thomas, how did the initial setup of your B&W Companion Slider go with your new trailer? I'm curious if adjusting the pivot arms as suggested worked out for you, as it could help others with similar setups.

@JerredH, the pivot arms were set up as shown above and we have used it now several times to pull the fifth wheel with no problems. Thanks for your help.
