Will The B&W Companion Fit Ford F350 Factory Pucks?

Updated 08/20/2025 | Published 08/16/2025

Question:

I have a Ford F350 with the factory puc system. Would a companion base work with the factory center gooseneck ball hole?

Hi James!

The B&W Companion can definitely fit a Ford F350, but not to the factory gooseneck ball hole. The reason for that is the post on a Companion hitch is square whereas the posts on factory gooseneck balls are round. A round hole would allow the Companion hitch to twist, and that would be very bad. All the bases will fit into the 4 pucks in your bed though.

You didn't mention the year, though Ford has never changed the pucks so this doesn't really matter, or bed size so I have a few options listed below:

6-3/4 Foot Bed:
Full Hitch - B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Slider Ford Towing Prep Package - 20K # BWRVK3370
Base - Slider Base for B&W OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Ford Towing Prep Package - 20K # BWRVB3370
Head - Head Assembly for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 25,000 lbs # BWRVC3006

8 Foot Bed
Full Hitch (20k) - B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package - 20K # BWRVK3300
Base - Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty # BWRVB3300
Head - Head Assembly for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 25,000 lbs # BWRVC3006

Full Hitch (25k) - B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package - 25K # BWRVK3305
Base - Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty # BWRVB3300
Head - Head Assembly for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 25,000 lbs # BWRVC3006

I don't know why we have the fixed 25k and 20k options as different parts, but as you can see, they do use the exact same parts.

Do you already have the base for the Companion that fits in the B&W Turnoverball?

Thanks for your response. I hadn't thought about the "square peg in a round hole" issue but was thinking that the main issue would be with how they differed in locking in place. Again, thanks for your response. James Morrison

@JamesM You're very welcome! And don't worry about it. It's often the littlest things that are the easiest things to overlook. : ) Let me know if there is anything else I can help with!
