Question:
Ive got a 22 ft. travel trailer with 3500 lb. ALKO axles. Rather than the typical 10X2-1/4 inch brake shoes it has 10X1-3/4 shoes. As far as I can tell, the ALKO part number for these should be 1530114 for one shoe. Do you have these or can you supply them? I cant seem to find them on your website. My other option might be to simply buy four complete 10X2-1/4 brake assemblies, four matching hubs and convert to the more common 3500 lb. arrangement and avoid parts procurement problems going forward. Thanks.

We offer replacement brake shoes for 10 x 1-1/2- and 10 x 2-1/4-inch electric drum brakes but no longer for the 1-3/4-inch width you reference. Dexter part # bp04-065 you referenced is a set of replacement brake shoes for electric trailer brakes normally seen on Dexter 2.8K axles. I was not able to find any brake part with the reference number 1530114. It does sound like an update is in order.
If you want to replace your brake assemblies and hubs/drum assemblies you will need to match up several characteristics to ensure compatibility. Your new hub/drum assemblies will need to use the same bearing set as the current hubs; this is essential to ensure that the new hubs will fit your spindles. You'll need to obtain your inner and outer bearing numbers from your trailer. You also need to match the wheel bolt pattern (see the linked article) to ensure your wheels will mount to the new hubs. Last, you'll need to ensure that the new hubs and brake assemblies are rated for at least the same capacity as your axles.
One link at right will take you to our main page for hub/drum assemblies. Use the filters in the left margin to select your wheel bolt pattern and your inner and outer bearings and axle weight rating to see compatible hub/drums. For example, if you have a 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern and bearings set L68149/L44649 you can use Dexter # 84546UC3. Appropriate compatible brake assemblies for those hubs will be shown at the right margin, in this case left-hand brake # 23-26 and right-hand # 23-27.
The linked article on bearings will be helpful to you as you install your new brakes and hubs.
