What is the Anti-Sway Cage Extension Used For on the Thule Apex Bike Rack

Question:

I have a new THULE 9025 which came with the anti sway with oversold and anti sway angled extension which can fir either going in one direction or another direction. When and why would I use the extension and what is the best way of fitting it?

Expert Reply:

Some bikes have frames with steep angles that may necessitate the use of the extension. In other cases there may be something attached to the frame that would block the anti-sway cradle unless the extension is used. It is situational and it depends on so many factors of whether you would use the extension or not.

The extension would install to the bottom of the cradle in place of the anti-sway cage. Then the anti-sway cage would install on the bottom of the extension as if it was the cradle.
