Does the Rack'em Double Barrel Trailer Tailgate Assist # RA-27C Have to Be Installed on a Side Rail

Question:
Can this unit be mounted on the bed of the trailer instead of the rail? I have a 6 x 12 trailer with a 125lb liftgate and it is utilized many times without the side rails.

I spoke to my contact at Rackem and the Rack'em Double Barrel Trailer Tailgate Assist # RA-27C that you referenced has to be installed on a side rail between 10-15 inches in height, preferably 12 inches tall.
