Question:

I have a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and would like to purchase this product. 24x60 Pro Series Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs. I can see from the video that I cannot open the rear of the van if the trailer is loaded, I can work around that. My concerns are having to get a torque wrench never done that before and what other products I HAVE to buy pin and clip, lights, tie down etc. Can you please inform me if you know if this hitch on my vehicle will block out the lights and recommend what type of bolt/clip combo to purchase to secure to my trailer hitch. Thanks!

If the hitch you have on your 2012 Chrysler Town and Country is a Class lll hitch, then a cargo carrier like part # 63153, should work well for you. Even though the carrier is rated with a 500 lb weight capacity, you will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to see what the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle is. You always want to stay within the weight rating of the lowest rated component when towing or carrying cargo.

A torque wrench is a common tool that can be found at any stores that carries automotive tools. some auto parts stores will let you borrow one if needed.

The hitch pin I recommend is part # e98880. This is designed for 2 inch trailer hitches and has a pin diameter of 5/8 inches.

If the cargo you are carrying blocks your license plate and/or your tail lights I recommend the Light Kit, part # 20174. This lit features the sealed light units that snap into the built-in mounting brackets, and has the wiring harness that attaches to the 4-way connector on the rear of your van.

For a license plate holder I recommend the LED License Plate Light, part # LPL55CB. This mounts to the center of the cargo carrier and includes the wiring which could be tapped into the running light circuit wire on the light kit, brown wire.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
