Gooseneck Ball and Safety Chain Kit for a 2027 Ford F-350 With Factory Prep

Updated 10/22/2026 | Published 10/20/2026

Question:

I ordered a 2027 F-350 with the factory fifth-wheel and gooseneck prep package. Do I need to buy a complete gooseneck hitch, or just the ball and the pieces the safety chains attach to?

Hey Aaron, congratulations on the new truck! Since your 2027 F-350 has the factory prep package, you don't need another underbed hitch. I recommend the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit # BWGNXA2061. This includes the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball, both safety-chain anchors, a cover for the ball opening, and a storage case.

Everything installs directly into the factory mounting points and removes when you need your bed back. I especially like the handle on the B&W ball since you can install and remove it without grabbing the greasy ball itself.

What kind of gooseneck will you be towing?

Mostly hauling a gooseneck equipment trailer with a skid steer and mini excavator. Just wanted something reliable that would hold up to regular use.

@Aaron B&W is a great choice for that kind of regular towing. Their hitch components are built for heavy-duty use, so I think you'll be happy with the setup. Good luck with the new F-350!

Works GREAT in my 2026 Chevy HD2500. Installs in under 30 seconds. Uninstalls in less than that. Use a HIGH PRESSURE GREASE on the ball (as in tractor/excavator grease). A light/medium coating to reduce wear. Available in cartridges for a grease gun at Tractor Supply, John Deere and Kubota. I’m hauling a 30 ft Featherlite Horse Trailer with 2 horses and living quarters. About 15,000 lbs.

@PeterD thanks for sharing your experience! Being able to install and remove the ball that quickly is one of the best features of the B&W kit. Good tip on keeping the ball greased to help reduce wear, too!

I Aaron you just need the ball and safety chain kit. I love my B&W gooseneck ball kit. You put it in when you need it and it comes with a case for when you don’t. I have a F350 and pull a 17k pound dump trailer occasionally.

@Michael sounds like you've got a pretty capable setup with that F-350 and 17K dump trailer! It's nice being able to pull the ball out and have your full truck bed back when you're not hauling. Appreciate you sharing your experience with Aaron!
