Question:
My 2027 Ram 3500 has the factory prep package. I'm looking at the B&W ball and safety-chain kits, but I see one listed for Ford and GM and another for Ram. Which complete kit do I need?

Hey Daniel, congratulations on the new truck! The correct kit for your 2027 Ram 3500 is the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit # BWGNXA2062. This gives you the 2-5/16" ball and safety chain anchors that fit your Ram's factory prep package. The # BWGNXA2061 you were looking at is the Ford/GM style kit, so is not compatible with your vehicle.
The Ram kit also includes a cover for the ball opening and a storage case. Everything removes when you're finished towing, and the handle lets you lift the ball out without getting grease all over your hands. It has a 30,000 lb rating, subject to the lower capacity of your truck and the rest of your towing setup.
What kind of gooseneck are you towing?

Daniel, This setup is impressive. I love the carry case so everything had its place when not in use. I instruct my drivers to pull the ball (gooseneck) and adjustable mount (bumper pull) right after disconnecting from trailer. The included carrying case helps. The handle was mentioned and that is my favorite part. Move the large handle and ball locks in place without question. Move it the other direction and ball is released. B & W make great products and E Trailer sells them at low prices. Good luck with your purchase.

I love how easy it is to install and remove. No more heavy and bulky 5th wheel hitch to wrestle with.

I.purchased this gooseneck ball and chain ankor kit for my 2026 Ran 3500. It fits and works great with 2 issues. 1. The kit is pretty heavy 20+# and as someone pretty cautious about leaving something like this in my truck bed all the time - handy storage is an issue. My truck had the factory setup for the hitch so this kit is a drop in. On all previous trucks I have had B & W hitches which I very strongly prefer. All that aside, I like it, the setup is very rugged and easy to use and install. It is probably the best you can do with a factory installed hitch setup. 2. The standard connections for safety chains on a goose neck is right next to the ball. With the offset safety chain locations (used per this kit) my safety chains were substantially to short. My trailer chains were esch about 30" and crossed over fine even for 90 degrees turns. I found out the hard way that they were about 18" to short to work with the chain connection locations on this kit! Measure carefully! Please check the required safety chain length for your setup VERY carefully before leaving home! Good luck!

Mostly towing a gooseneck equipment trailer with a compact excavator. I almost ordered the Ford/GM kit before noticing there were two different versions.
