Question:
I'm replacing the electric tongue jack on our travel trailer and noticed some wire to the camper battery while others plug into the truck's 7-way. We already have a battery on the trailer. Is there an advantage to switching to the 7-way style?

Hey Melissa! I'd stick with a hardwired jack since your trailer already has a battery. That lets you operate the jack without having your truck nearby or plugging into its 7-way. I recommend the etrailer Electric Trailer Jack w/ SnapPad, and you can choose from the following based on the capacity you need:
-etrailer Electric Trailer Jack w/ SnapPad - 3,500 lbs # e356GR
-etrailer Electric Trailer Jack w/ SnapPad - 5,000 lbs # e956GR
A 7-way-powered model like the etrailer # e22QV is handy for a trailer without its own battery, but it needs that connection to your truck for powered operation. For your camper, I'd rather keep the jack ready to use from the onboard battery.
Where are you headed next with your travel trailer?
