Question:

I purchased a Bolt reciever hitch pin from you guys for my duramax. The box says for Cadalac....Buick and GMC. My ignition key is to wide to fit into the lock.....therefore the lock can not be coded. Am I missing something here? Please advise. Thanks

Hi Dave,

The BOLT Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches Part # BL7023582 is only compatible with GM center cut keys that look the photo I attached below. GM has used many different key styles over the years and it's possible the style key you have is not compatible with this lock. If I know what vehicle you have and if you would kindly send a picture of the key in, I can confirm compatibility and we'll go from there to get you a new lock or a different compatible hitch lock for that key.

@DaveB That explains it, the Bolt hitch lock you ordered, BL7023582, is not compatible with that year, make, and model of truck. Instead, you need the BOLT Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches Part # BL7018445 that is a confirmed fit for the 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 as it fit early model GM keys. I'm not able to add a picture to the comments but make sure to click to part number linked to the product page and scroll down to see what the key looks like that is compatible with this lock to be sure.
