Question:

I have a 2019 R-Pod 179, Hood River Edition. I recently lost the cover to my rv ac, possible due to a falling rock while driving along I-70 in the Rockies. I have a Dometic RV AC 13.5K BTU Mfg 640310C451J0 Product Number 936002240 Serial Number 74734477 SKU 910530570. I believe it is a Penguin II, but the literature that came with the trailer isn’t clear on that. I need a replacement shroud and would like to go with white to try to reduce the sun absorption at altitude. Does part DMC65RR for my unit? I’ve included some photos, and I apologize for not having exact measurements from my photos. There are two screws on the leading edge and one screw each on the flanks of the unit.

Thank you for the detailed information and all the photos! From the numbers you provided, I determined you do indeed have a Dometic Penguin II.

Since you're looking for a white shroud, you'll need the Replacement Shroud for Dometic Penguin II RV Air Conditioner in Polar White Part # DMC65RR. It will be an exact replacement for your original shroud (and hopefully not get hit by any rocks).

What's the next trip you're taking your R-Pod out on?

Hey Matt I'm not sure the exact model number cuz the motorhome is into near me but it was a dometic 13.5 with a white shrouded cover and this cover fit perfectly I tried one from Amazon and it was not a good fit at all. If you have lost them make sure you order the four perimeter screws they have a very large diameter head and a very short thread difficult to get

@Rick Getting the right shroud replacement can be tricky! I'm glad this one fit perfectly for your Dometic 13.5! Thank you for the reminder about the screws as well! From what info I could find, a Dometic Penguin II like Matt's uses a #8 size pan-head or shoulder screw. Or a general replacement is a #8 x 1 1/2" self-drilling or sheet metal screws.

@ClaireH I would definitely not use the self tapping yes they will go through the hole but the head is too small and the vibration from the road will cause the head of the screw to fracture the fiberglass/plastic at the shroud is made of
