Video Transcript for Firestone Ride-Rite Kit Replacement Air Spring Installation

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at Firestone's replacement air spring for Firestone Ride Rite Kits. Part number: F6401. These replacement air springs are going to work with Firestone's Ride Rite Kits. The replacement air bag spring will operate up to 100 PSI. Speaker 2: So, is your truck not staying level Your pressure gauges keep going down You need to check your air bags for leaks. On our drivers side here, we'll spray our air bag and we're looking for the presence of bubbles.

As you can see here, there's no bubbles at all on this air bag. Just the soapy water. Now, we come over to our passengers side and, as you can see here, we've got bubbles occurring. And, this is indicating that this is an air leak. Soapy water will trap the air and breathe bubbles.

So, we will need to replace this air bag. Now, it's not a common occurrence, but it does happen over time. So, we'll go through the steps now on how to get your air bag in.Before you replace your air bag, you want to relieve all the air pressure that's in it. Now, this a lot of times, is a valve that's located somewhere near the rear of the vehicle where you can just manually inflate it. However, on this vehicle, it has an automatic air pressure pump.

So, well be using this instead of a manual valve. This will make for a safe installation. We'll need to remove the hose first. Now, if you haven't already sprayed it, go ahead and hit it with some of that soapy water. That'll just make it a little easier to get that hose out of there. I'm using a small wrench.

This happens to be a 7 millimeter bit. It just needs to be small enough to fit over your hose. You'll press down on the valve, and pull up on the hose to release it.Next, we'll remove the valve with a 9/16 wrench. Just below the valve that we removed, there's a large nut. We'll need to remove that nut using a 1 and 1/8 inch socket. And, we'll remove that large nut. We'll set that aside as we're going to be reusing it. Our air bag can now be pressed downward, and we can take off the heat shield. We'll also be reusing that. Then on our lower bolt, we'll put our 9/16 socket on it, and you can actually unthread the airbag by just spinning it. That way, you can leave your bolt in place. And, we'll just pull our air bag out of there. We are now going to put our new airbag in. Now, you do want to pay attention to the top of the air bag. As you can see, there's a small alignment pin there. That is going to need to line up with one of the openings in our upper bracket here. We're going to go ahead and squish it down, push it in, and I'm going to thread it on to our bolt that we had down here. We'll put our heat shield back on. We're going to slide our air opening up through the hole on the upper bracket. Verify again that that pin lines up. We can then thread our large nut back on to our new air bag. After you get the top bolt hand tight, go ahead and tighten it down, then tighten down your bottom bolt.Alright. Then thread your air line valve back in. We can then re-insert our air hose. I like to wipe it off right before I put it back in. Make sure that it's fully seated. I like to push it in and out a little just to verify that. And, our new air bag is now in. So, we can air it up and check it out for leaks. And, with no presence of any bubbles anywhere, our repair is successful and ready to hit the road again. And, that completes our look at Firestone's replacement air spring for Firestone Ride Rite Kits part number F6401.

Great product! Had installed the kit on my 2011 ram two years ago! Developed a leak last week and thought there was a "rub hole" in original bag! Turned out that upper steel bag plate developed a crack! Think bag may have shifted in bracket and created a pressure point against plate, not a defect! 340659

  • Firestone Air Bag Suspension Kit Recommendation for 2005 Dodge Ram 2500
  • You have the correct air bag from Firestone for what's recommended for your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 as part # F6401 which is part of the kit part # F2299 that is the correct kit. For the upper bracket you'd need part # F5757 that you referenced and for a brace part # F5758. For the lower bracket you'd need the part # F5370. Only problem is Firestone does not offer the u-bolts as replacement parts so your best option would be an entire new kit part # F2299.

  • Will the Firestone Ride-Rite Springs Transfer From a 2003 Ford F-250 4x4 to a 2012 Ram 2500 2WD
  • There is a bracket kit and hardware kit available for the Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for your 2012 Ram 2500, however it is only compatible with the Ride-Rite Air Bags, # 6401. The bracket kit that you will need is part # F2479 and the hardware kit is part # F2327. At this time, the # 6401 air bags are the only air bags that will work with your 2012 Ram 2500. There are three different air bags that are compatible with your 2003 Ford F-350, # 6401, # 6781, and # 6762. If your current...

  • Replacement Parts for Firestone Air Springs on 2009 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4
  • I reached out to my tech contact at Firestone and they cannot confirm a fit between that bracket kit and that air bag. I did a little further research and the Ride-Rite # F2299 is the complete kit that is a confirmed fit for your 2009 Ram 3500 4x4. It uses the # F6401 air spring, but bracket # F5757, # F5370, and # F5758. The f2479 bracket kit you mentioned has been discontinued and most likely why my tech contact couldn't confirm a fit, but consists of those same three brackets....

  • Replacement Upper and Lower Mounting Brackets for Firestone # F2299 Ride-Rite Air Spring Kit
  • It sounds like what you're needing is the Firestone Replacement Bracket Kit for the # F2299 Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs. Firestone offers the brackets individually, upper bracket # F5757 and braces # F5758, but hardware isn't something they sell separately. Your best bet would be to get the entire kit. Keep in mind that this bracket kit is intended to be used with the # F6401 springs.

  • The Firestone Standard Air Spring, # F6401, has a maximum load leveling capacity of 2,500 lbs each. When using 4 of these springs on your tandem axle trailer, they will provide you with a maximum load leveling capacity of 10,000 lbs and would not be effective if the trailer is loaded over 10,000 lbs. This spring is designed to be used with Firestone Ride-Rite kits on vehicles and were not designed to be used on large trailers. If you are looking for suspension enhancement that matches...

  • Replacement Firestone Airbags For 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD
  • The first thing we will need to know is what air suspension system you have on your 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. Since there are a few different models, you will need to know which one was installed on your truck. If your kit was either F2299, F2330, F2398, F2400, F2450 or F2451, then part # F6401 is the replacement air spring that will work for you. This will be plenty of capacity to level out your Ford F-150 with your loaded tool box and with the added tongue weight from a trailer. • Replacement Air Spring For Firestone Ride Rite # F2299 Air Helper Springs on 2007 Dodge Ram
  • If you haven't already, I'd recommend you confirm the leak is in the bag itself, rather than in the air lines. Mix some liquid dishwashing detergent with a little water, and paint it on the air line at the junctions. Any leak will cause the detergent to bubble up, which you'll be able to see very easily. The correct replacement air spring for your # F2299 Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs is the # F6401 you referenced. My Firestone representative has confirmed this.

  • Which Firestone Air Bag Kit Fits 2015 Ford F-250 with 4 Wheel Drive

So based on that you'd need an all new kit part # F2703 for your truck. I attached an install video for this kit on a similar 2016 F-250 as well. When you had the front brakes worked on, if the mechanic lifted your truck by the frame and did not deflate both air springs completely, that could have over extended the air springs.
