Question:

How do I change my curt 17500 hitch from a 2” receiver to a 2.5” receiver. I bought a new camper and really do not trust the sleeve

Hello Christopher,

Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!

Since you already have the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # C17500, you do not need to replace the whole system. You will just need to swap out the shank.

You will want the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17131. This will fit directly into your 2-1/2" receiver and work with your existing TruTrack head. It is also the closest option to the drop you already have with the shank that came with your # C17500, so you will still have similar adjustability for getting your new camper set up level. I attached an image showing the dimensions.

And I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of that sleeve. The fewer parts we have between the truck and trailer, the better when it comes to keeping everything nice and solid for a smooth towing setup.

What kind of camper did you upgrade to? Have you taken it out for the first adventure?
