Question:
I’m interested in the eTrailer Hitch Receivers for my 2015 Subaru Outback e42TR and e98847 to hold a bike rack. The car comes equipped with the Subaru Rear Vehicle Alert system and I wanted to know if both of these are compatible. Also, is there a difference in the hitch height between the 2 models?

Hey Jeff! Both hitches are compatible with the rear vehicle alert system so that won't be an issue. However, I would expect to have to disable that when you're carrying your bike rack. The # e98847 measures 15-3/4" from the ground to the inside top of the receiver.
The same measurement on the # e42TR is 15" so it has better ground clearance. You also get better clearance overall with a concealed cross tube. On top of that, it looks significantly better without the entire hitch hanging down at the rear. In my opinion that makes it worth the additional cost, and the hitch I recommend for your 2015 Subaru Outback.
What bikes are you hauling and where do you typically ride?

I installed on my 2015 and use a Kuat dual bike rack and have had no issues with the vehicle alert system.
